Hello, friends! How are you today? Did you have fun at school? I hope you are reading lots of books and having a great time!
Today, we are going to read a fun story called “Me Want Pet” by Tammy Saver, with pictures by Bob Shea. Are you ready to find out what happens in the story? Let’s go!
Once upon a time, there was a little Cave Boy. He had lots of cool things like rocks, sticks, and a club. But Cave Boy was sad because he didn’t have a pet. He really wanted one!
Cave Boy went on an adventure to find a pet. He looked everywhere until he found a big, fluffy woolly mammoth. Cave Boy was so happy and brought Woolly home. But Woolly needed a special place to sleep, so Cave Boy had to say goodbye. “Me wish you could stay,” he said.
Next, Cave Boy found a saber-toothed tiger named Toothy. They ran home together, but Toothy made Cave Boy sneeze! “No, can’t stay,” said Cave Boy. He was sorry to see Toothy go.
Cave Boy didn’t give up. He found a cute baby dodo bird. The baby dodo didn’t have a mama, and Cave Boy wanted to keep him. But the baby dodo wasn’t potty trained, so Cave Boy had to say goodbye again. “Me so sad,” he said.
Suddenly, the ground started to shake. “Stampede!” shouted Cave Boy’s family. They needed to take cover! Cave Boy and his friends helped save the day. Hooray!
In the end, Cave Boy had a big surprise. He didn’t just have one pet; he had three! And that made him the happiest Cave Boy ever!
Wasn’t that a fun story? I loved it, and I hope you did too! Remember to read lots of books and have fun learning. See you next time! Bye-bye!
Pet Hunt Adventure: Just like Cave Boy went on an adventure to find a pet, let’s go on a “Pet Hunt” around your home or classroom! Look for objects that could be pretend pets, like a stuffed animal or a toy. Once you find your pretend pet, think about what it would need to be happy. Does it need a special place to sleep, like Woolly the mammoth? Or maybe it needs some food or a toy to play with. Share your pretend pet and its needs with a friend or family member.
Animal Observation Walk: Take a walk outside with a grown-up and try to spot different animals or insects. Can you find a bird, a squirrel, or maybe a butterfly? Watch how they move and what they do. Imagine what it would be like if you could have one of these animals as a pet. What special things would you need to take care of it? Draw a picture of the animal you saw and what you would do to make it feel at home.
Story Time Reflection: Think about the different animals Cave Boy met in the story. Why do you think each animal couldn’t stay with Cave Boy? Talk with a friend or family member about what makes a good pet. What kind of pet would you like to have and why? Draw a picture of your dream pet and write a sentence about why it would be the perfect pet for you.

Hey there, everyone! How are you doing? How was school today? Did you have a lot of homework? Have you been good? Have you been reading lots of books on your own?
Well, today we have “Me Want Pet” by Tammy Saver, pictures by Bob Shea. Want to find out what “Me Want Pet” is about? Let’s have a look!
“Me Want Pet” – Cave Boy had lots of things: rocks, sticks, a club, but no pet. “Me sad,” said Cave Boy. “One pet, that’s something I hear all the time in my house.”
Cave Boy went to find one. He searched near and far until he found a woolly mammoth. Cave Boy brought Woolly home. He looks quite cozy, doesn’t he? “Me want pet,” he said. “Ugh, go on to Mama. He to be where he sleeps.” Cave Boy gave Woolly a hug. “Me wish you could stay.”
Then Cave Boy tried again. He searched high and low until he found a saber-toothed tiger. Cave Boy and Toothy raised home. “Me want pet,” he said. “Make me sneeze.” “No, can’t stay,” Cave Boy and Toothy said. “Me sorry, buddy.”
Oh, but Cave Boy did not give up. He searched across grasslands, overseas, and through forests until he found a baby dodo bird. “Poor baby,” said Cave Boy. “No Mama anywhere. No to be. No sneeze. Me want pet.” “No, can’t keep him. No potty train,” Cave Boy groaned and turned to Dodo. “Me so sad.”
Just then, the ground shook. “Stampede!” “Yup, Mama! What we do, Papa?” “We take cover!” Cave Boy to the rescue with a little help from his friends. “Hooray!” cheered the family.
Cave Boy had lots of things: rocks, sticks, a club, but Cave Boy did not have one pet. Cave Boy had three! Ooh, and that was the best one!
