Number Line Hop: Create a number line on the floor using tape or chalk. Start at zero and hop to the number five, then hop seven more spaces. Where do you land? It’s twelve! Try starting at different numbers and hopping forward to see what new numbers you can make.
Story Time Addition: Make up a story with your friends or family that involves adding numbers. For example, “Once upon a time, there were 5 apples on a tree. Then, 7 more apples grew. How many apples are there now?” Draw pictures to go along with your story and solve the addition problem together!
