Hi there! Are you ready to have some fun with Kate and Nate? Today, we’re going to play with numbers and learn about adding and taking away. Let’s get started!
Imagine you have seven toy trucks. That’s a lot of trucks, right? Now, if four of those trucks drive away, how many trucks do you have left? Let’s count together!
We start with seven trucks. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven! Then, four trucks drive away. One, two, three, four! Now, let’s see how many trucks are still here. One, two, three! So, seven minus four equals three. Great job!
Wasn’t that fun? You did an amazing job counting and learning with Kate and Nate. Remember, you can always practice with your toys at home. Try adding and taking away with your favorite toys and see what you discover!
Don’t forget to keep exploring and learning new things every day. There’s so much fun waiting for you!
Truck Parade: Gather some of your toy trucks or any other toys you have. Line them up and count how many you have. Now, pretend some of them are going on a parade. Take a few away and count how many are left. Can you add some back to see how many you have now? Try different numbers and see what happens!
Number Detective: Go on a number hunt around your house or classroom. Look for numbers on clocks, books, or even in the kitchen. When you find a number, think about what would happen if you added or took away something from that number. For example, if you see the number 5, what happens if you add 2 more? What if you take away 1?
Story Time Math: Create a short story with your family or friends using numbers. For example, “Once upon a time, there were 5 little ducks. Three went swimming, and two stayed on the shore. How many ducks were swimming?” Draw pictures to go along with your story and solve the math problem together.
