Article Title: Minecraft – Hour of Code: BUILD YOUR OWN & SHARE

Welcome to the World of Minecraft Coding!

Hey there! Are you ready to dive into the exciting world of Minecraft coding? You’ve just learned some cool basics about computer science, and now it’s time to use those skills to create something amazing!

Unleash Your Imagination

Guess what? There are no more instructions or puzzles to solve. This means you can build anything you want in Minecraft! It’s like having a giant box of building blocks, and you get to decide what to make. Isn’t that awesome?

What Will You Create?

Some kids are already making cool things. One made a letter “L” using torches, and another made an “A” with birch planks. Someone even built a whole house out of wool! What will you create? Maybe a castle, a spaceship, or even a zoo with lots of animals!

Share Your Masterpiece

Once you’re done building your amazing creation, you can share it with your friends. Just click on “share” to get a special link. Your friends will be able to see what you’ve made and maybe even get inspired to build something too!

Have Fun and Keep Exploring!

The best part about Minecraft coding is that you can have tons of fun while learning. So keep exploring, keep building, and most importantly, keep having fun!

Extra Fun Fact

Did you know that Minecraft is used by millions of people around the world to learn and create? It’s a great way to practice problem-solving and teamwork while having a blast!

  • What would you build if you could create anything in Minecraft? Why would you choose that, and what materials would you use?
  • Have you ever built something in real life, like with blocks or Legos? How is building in Minecraft similar or different from building with real-life materials?
  • Imagine you could share your Minecraft creation with anyone in the world. Who would you want to show it to, and what do you think they would say about it?
  1. Build a Miniature World: Use building blocks or LEGO bricks to create a small version of something you want to build in Minecraft. It could be a house, a castle, or even a zoo! Think about what materials you would use in Minecraft and try to find similar colors or shapes with your blocks. Once you’re done, explain to a friend or family member what you built and why you chose those materials.

  2. Design Your Dream Creation: Grab some paper and crayons or markers and draw a picture of something you would like to build in Minecraft. It could be anything from a spaceship to a magical forest. Label the different parts of your drawing and think about how you would build it in the game. What blocks would you use? What challenges might you face?

  3. Observe and Imagine: Next time you go outside, look around and find something interesting, like a tree, a building, or a playground. Imagine how you would recreate it in Minecraft. What blocks would you need? How would you make it look similar to the real thing? Share your ideas with a friend and see if they have different ideas!

Congratulations! You just learned the basic building blocks of computer science. Now you can use these blocks to build your own creation. There are no more instructions and no puzzles to solve. You can build anything you want. You get to choose. [students talking] It’s about to get real. I made an L out of torches. I made an A out of birch planks. It worked! We built a house out of wool! When you’re done making your creation, choose share to get a link to share with your friends. Have fun!
