In the “Let’s Move and Freeze!” lesson, children engage in a series of fun physical activities that encourage movement and coordination, such as reaching for the sky, crossing arms, and jumping. The lesson emphasizes the importance of listening and freezing when prompted, promoting both physical fitness and listening skills. Ultimately, it aims to instill a love for movement and the joy of being active with friends.
  1. What fun moves did we do to make our bodies move?
  2. How did it feel when we had to freeze?
  3. Why is moving and dancing important for us?

Let’s Move and Freeze!

Hey there, little mover! Are you ready to have some fun? Let’s get our bodies moving and grooving! Follow along with these fun moves and remember to freeze when we say “freeze!”

Reach for the Sky

First, let’s reach both of our hands up high, like we’re trying to touch the sky. Now, sway them side to side like the branches of a tree in the wind. Great job!

Cross Your Arms

Now, let’s cross our arms over our bodies. First to the left, then to the right. Can you feel the stretch? Keep moving and freeze!

Roll Your Fists

Make your hands into fists and roll them side to side. It’s like we’re stirring a big pot of soup. Yum! Cross them over again, left and right. Move it and freeze!

Jump and Crisscross

Spread your feet wide apart and get ready to jump high! Now, crisscross your feet as you jump, first to the left, then to the right. You’re doing awesome! Move it and freeze!

Dance Like Humpty Dumpty

Let’s move like Humpty Dumpty dancing on a wall. Twist and turn, but be careful not to fall! Now, shake like a chicken flapping its wings and knees. Move it and freeze!

Swing and Floss

Stretch your arms out straight and swing your hips side to side. Now, let’s do the floss dance! Switcharoo, switcharoo, left and right. Move it and freeze!

Move with Friends

It’s so much fun to move with our hands and feet! Let’s move with our friends and feel so good and free. Move down low, then up high. Crisscross, crisscross, left and right. Move it and freeze!

Keep Moving!

Remember, moving is fun and keeps us healthy. So keep dancing, jumping, and playing every day. You’re a superstar mover!

  • What was your favorite move from the video, and why did you like it? Can you show us how to do it?
  • Have you ever played a game where you had to freeze in place? What was it like, and how did it make you feel?
  • Can you think of other fun ways to move your body that weren’t in the video? How do you feel when you move like that?
  1. Nature Walk and Move: Take a walk outside with your family or friends. As you walk, look for things that move like the activities in the video. Can you find a tree swaying in the wind? Try to sway like the tree. See if you can spot a bird flapping its wings. Can you flap your arms like the bird? Share what you find and how you moved with your classmates.

  2. Freeze Dance Party: Organize a small dance party at home or in the classroom. Play some fun music and dance along with your friends or family. When the music stops, remember to freeze just like in the video. Can you hold your pose until the music starts again? Try different poses each time you freeze!

  3. Movement Storytime: Create a story with your friends or family where each part of the story involves a movement from the video. For example, “Once upon a time, there was a tree that reached for the sky and swayed in the wind.” Act out each part of the story using the movements you’ve learned. Can you come up with new movements to add to your story?
