In today’s lesson, “Let’s Dance Like Animals!”, participants engage in fun and imaginative movement by mimicking various animals. Starting with a lion’s roar, they hop like bunnies, waddle like penguins, fly like birds, and twirl like dolphins, all while enjoying the physical activity and creativity involved in animal-inspired dancing. The lesson emphasizes movement, coordination, and the joy of playful expression.
  1. What animal did you like to dance like the most?
  2. How did you feel when you were hopping like a bunny?
  3. Can you show me how to waddle like a penguin again?

Let’s Dance Like Animals!

Hi there! Are you ready to have some fun? Today, we’re going to dance and move just like animals! Doesn’t that sound exciting?

Get Ready to Move!

First, let’s get ready. Stand up and make sure you have some space around you. We don’t want to bump into anything while we’re having fun!

Dance Like a Lion

Let’s start by dancing like a lion. Can you roar and move your paws like a big, strong lion? Roar! You’re doing great!

Hop Like a Bunny

Now, let’s hop like a bunny. Can you wiggle your nose and jump up and down? Boing, boing! Look at you go!

Waddle Like a Penguin

Next, let’s waddle like a penguin. Can you flap your arms and waddle side to side? You’re a cool penguin!

Fly Like a Bird

Let’s pretend to fly like a bird. Stretch out your arms and flap them up and down. You’re soaring high in the sky!

Twirl Like a Dolphin

Finally, let’s twirl like a dolphin. Spin around and pretend you’re swimming in the ocean. Whee! You’re amazing!

Great Job!

Wow, you sure know how to move it! Dancing like animals is so much fun. Thanks for dancing with me today. See you next time! Bye!

  • What was your favorite animal dance move, and why did you like it the most? Can you show us how you do it?
  • Can you think of another animal and how it might dance? How would you move your body to dance like that animal?
  • Have you ever seen any of these animals in real life or in a movie? How did they move, and did it look like our dance moves?
  1. Animal Observation Walk: Take a walk outside with a grown-up and look for animals or pictures of animals. Observe how they move. Do they hop, waddle, or fly? Try to mimic their movements. How does it feel to move like them? Share your favorite animal movement with your friends or family.

  2. Create Your Own Animal Dance: Think of your favorite animal that wasn’t in the video. How does it move? Create a new dance move based on that animal. For example, if you like kangaroos, you might jump high and far. Show your new dance to your friends and see if they can guess the animal!

  3. Animal Movement Storytime: With a grown-up, read a story about animals. As you read, pause and act out the movements of the animals in the story. Can you make the sounds they make too? This will help you understand how different animals move and sound.
