Join Murray and his fluffy friend, Ovejita, as they go on a fun adventure at the zoo! They are excited to find different animals, learn cool facts about them, and have lots of fun along the way. Let’s see what they discover!
Murray starts by calling out for Ovejita, and soon she joins him with a happy “Hello!” Together, they are ready to explore the zoo and find amazing animals. They invite you to come along and join in the fun!
The first challenge is to find an animal that doesn’t have legs. Murray and Ovejita look at animals like groundhogs and lemurs, but they all have legs. After searching, they find a snake called Jake, a boa constrictor, which has no legs! This teaches us to look closely and think about what makes each animal special.
Snakes are interesting animals that belong to the reptile family. They have long bodies and no legs. Snakes move by using their muscles and can live in many places like forests and deserts. They help nature by eating pests.
Next, Dr. Mark asks Murray and Ovejita to find an animal that looks like it’s wearing a vest. They see a fox and a kangaroo, but neither looks like it has a vest. Finally, they find a tamandua, a type of anteater, with a pattern that looks like a vest. This shows us how animals can look very different and use their patterns to hide in nature.
The tamandua lives in Central and South America. It has a long nose and a tail that helps it climb trees. Tamanduas eat ants and termites, showing how animals have special ways to find food and live in their homes.
The last task is to find an animal with two toes. Murray and Ovejita count toes on animals like peacocks and horses, but they don’t match. Finally, they find a two-toed sloth, ending their adventure with success!
The two-toed sloth is a slow-moving animal that hangs upside down in trees. It eats leaves and fruits and lives in rainforests. Sloths have special ways to live in their homes, teaching us about the amazing variety of life on Earth.
Murray and Ovejita’s zoo adventure is not only fun but also teaches us about different animals and what makes them unique. We learn to look carefully, think about what we see, and enjoy the wonders of the animal world. Exploring nature is exciting and full of surprises!
Animal Observation Walk: Take a walk in your backyard, local park, or neighborhood. Try to find animals or insects and observe them closely. Can you find any animals without legs, like a worm or a snail? Draw a picture of the animal you find and share one special thing about it with your family or friends.
Create Your Own Animal Patterns: Using paper and crayons or markers, draw an animal and give it a unique pattern, like stripes or spots. Think about how these patterns might help the animal hide in its environment. Share your drawing with the class and explain how your animal’s pattern helps it survive.
Counting Toes Activity: With a family member or friend, look at pictures of different animals in books or online. Count the number of toes on each animal. Can you find an animal with two toes like the sloth? Make a list of animals with different numbers of toes and discuss why they might have that number.
