Hello, friends! How are you today? Did you have a yummy meal? Did you play outside in the sunshine? Are you ready to hear a fun story?

My Grandpa’s Chair

Today, we’re going to read “My Grandpa’s Chair” by Gian Park. Do you have a favorite chair? I like the yellow one because yellow is my favorite color!

My grandpa loved reading on his old couch, but he wasn’t happy there anymore. So, Mimi and I decided to help him find a new chair. We went to a store with lots of chairs. Some were too small, some were too hard, and some were too soft. None of them were just right for Grandpa.

Then, Grandpa ordered a special chair made just for him. A talented craftsman cut down a tree, carved the wood, and put it all together. It was perfect! But Grandpa worried about the new chair. What if it got scratched or spilled on?

To make Grandpa happy, Mimi and I took him to our favorite park. We played with ducks, said hello to a squirrel, and smelled pretty flowers. Grandpa sat with me, and it was so nice!

So, you see, it’s not about the chair. It’s about being with the people you love, like your grandpa. Next time you see him, give him a big hug and tell him you love him!

Rocking Chair Adventure

Now, let’s read “Rocking Chair” by Ellie Kimo and Lashana Richardson. Do you have a rocking chair? They’re so much fun!

Rocking chairs go back and forth, making a funny creaky sound. When I sit in one, I feel like I’m flying in the sky or sailing on the ocean. It’s like magic!

Rocking chairs are so comfy, they can even make mommy and daddy fall asleep! Do you have a special chair that you love?

Welcome back to the Story Time Family! How are you today? How’s your day going? Have you had a good meal? Have you had plenty of rest or sunshine? Are you ready to sit down and read a book?

Today we have “My Grandpa’s Chair” by Gian Park. Let’s have a look! Which one’s your favorite chair? I like this one because yellow is my favorite color. My grandpa used to love reading on his old couch, but lately, he didn’t seem happy when he sat there. I thought Grandpa might need a new chair, so Mimi and I took him shopping.

The store had all sorts of chairs. Some chairs were too small, the hard chair gave him back pain, the rocking chair made Grandpa dizzy, and some chairs were too soft. None of the store chairs were quite right. Grandpa decided to order a chair that was made just for him.

A famous craftsman cut down a tree, carved the wood, and assembled the parts. It was one of a kind, made especially for my grandpa. But a new chair made Grandpa worry. What if Mimi scratched it? What if he spilled his tea on it? Eventually, Grandpa put the chair in a room where nothing would damage it.

Mimi and I decided to take Grandpa to our favorite place to cheer him up. It was filled with people enjoying fresh air and sunshine. Mimi and I chased ducks, said hello to a squirrel, and smelled flowers. After a while, I needed to sit down, and Grandpa came with me. Isn’t that so sweet?

And that was my grandpa’s chair. So you see, it isn’t about the chair but about the person you’re sitting next to—in this case, his granddaughter. Make sure you give your grandpa a big hug the next time you see him. Or if you’re lucky enough to be with him right now, make sure you give him a hug and tell him how much you love him. You are so lucky!

Now, let’s move on to the next story.

Today we have “Rocking Chair” by Ellie Kimo and Lashana Richardson. Let’s have a look at what this rocking chair is about, shall we?

Rocking chair, rocking chair, squeaky seat. When you move, you make the floorboards creak. Rocking chair, rocking chair, as you glide and groove, you make me think I’m gliding too. Sometimes I think I’m on a plane, coasting through the skies. Sometimes I think I’m on the ocean, gentle waves passing by. Even though I see that I’m right here in this chair, when you move, you make me think I can go anywhere.

Rocking chair, rocking chair, comfy seat. Is there magic in you? Not only do you put me to sleep, but sometimes mommy and daddy too.

Do you have a rocking chair or a favorite rocking chair? I remember I had a special rocking chair when I was a little girl. It’s always so soothing to sit in a rocking chair, don’t you think?
