Hello, friends! How are you today? Is it sunny or windy where you are? Today, it’s very sunny and windy here. Everything is flying around outside! Are you ready to read a fun story with us? Let’s dive into a book called “My Way to Kindness” by Elizabeth Cole.
Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Melissa. She was very kind and sweet. But sometimes, she forgot to be kind. Her Teddy Bear helped remind her. One day, Melissa got a toy and some candy, but she forgot to say “thank you” to her mommy. Later, she promised to make her bed but watched cartoons instead. That night, Teddy had a plan to show Melissa how to be kind in her dreams.
In her dream, Melissa and Teddy went to a magical place called the Kingdom of Sweets. There were pudding clouds, flying cookies, marshmallow grass, and a chocolate stream. It was a yummy place!
Melissa met a friendly brownie who said, “Hello! Welcome to our Kingdom of Sweets, where everyone is kind. When you are kind, you make others happy, and it makes you feel good too!”
Melissa saw muffins playing together. One muffin invited a shy friend to join, and they all played happily. The muffin said, “I always try to be kind. Imagine how you want others to treat you, and treat them the same way.”
Then, a little donut showed Melissa a card she made for her mom. It said, “Mom, you’re the best!” The donut said, “Kind words are like magic. They make people feel happy and loved.”
Next, Melissa met a gingerbread who shared his snack with friends. He said, “If you see someone who needs help, do a good deed. When you’re kind, you earn special freckles that make you shine like the sun!”
Melissa promised to be kind every day and earn her freckles. She woke up with a big smile, ready to make the world a better place with kindness.
After her dream, Melissa thanked her mom for a yummy meal and helped clean the table. She even made a “Best Mom” label for her. Kindness is like magic, and it makes everyone happy!
Remember, every kind deed is special. How many kindness freckles can you earn today?
We hope you enjoyed the story! If you want to hear more fun stories, don’t forget to come back and join us again. Take care and see you soon! Bye-bye!

Kindness Jar: Create a “Kindness Jar” at home or in the classroom. Every time you do something kind, write it on a small piece of paper and put it in the jar. At the end of the week, read all the kind deeds together and celebrate the happiness you’ve spread. Can you think of some kind things you can do today?
Role-Playing Game: With your friends or family, act out different scenarios where you can show kindness. For example, pretend you are Melissa and someone forgot their lunch. What kind thing could you do? Discuss how being kind makes everyone feel and how you can earn your “kindness freckles.”
Kindness Hunt: Go on a “Kindness Hunt” around your home or school. Look for opportunities to be kind, like helping a friend, sharing a toy, or saying something nice. Keep a list of all the kind acts you find and do. How many can you discover in one day?
Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:

[Music] Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Storytime Family. How are you today? How’s the weather? It’s super sunny and also very windy here today; everything is blowing all over the place outside. I hope you’re having a good day! Are you ready to read a book with us? Today we have a book called “My Way to Kindness” by Elizabeth Cole. Let’s get to it!
“My Way to Kindness”
Little Melissa was kind and sweet, the sweetest child you will ever meet. But even Melissa might fail to be kind and needed her Teddy to bring it to mind. Once, she got a toy and a candy too, but her mommy didn’t hear “thank you.” Then Melissa promised to make her bed but decided to watch cartoons instead. So her Teddy made a plan: that night, he would show her in her dreams what is right.
They ended up in the Kingdom of Sweets. Melissa had never seen so many treats! There were pudding clouds up high in the sky, so many cookies with wings that could fly, marshmallow grass, and a chocolate stream, and mountains of strawberry ice cream. That sounds delicious!
Melissa saw a brownie. Out of the blue, he met an old lady and said, “How are you?” Then he held the door for the lady and smiled. She gratefully said, “You’re such a kind child.” The brownie greeted Melissa and Teddy too. He said with a smile, “Hello, nice to meet you! Welcome to our lovely Kingdom of Sweets, with nothing but kindness on every street. When you are kind, you get much in return; that is the lesson everyone should learn. If you’re kind to others, they’ll smile at you. It will make you feel good and happy too.”
Then Melissa saw a group of muffins play. Only the smallest of them stayed away. Blueberry muffin invited his shy friend, and all the muffins played together in the end. Melissa said, “Muffin, you are so sweet!” “Yes,” said the muffin, “I am a tasty treat. You might eat my belly, but only a half,” he replied, and they all started to laugh.
“I tell you the way I always choose: I put myself in someone else’s shoes. If you want, you might try this way too: imagine how you want others to treat you.” Early in the morning, I hug my dad and make his whole day happy and glad. Every kind deed, no matter how small, might become big like a rolling snowball.
The little donut had something to suggest. She had made a card: “Mom, you’re the best!” Then she hugged her mom tight; they were such a beautiful sight. The donut said, “A kind word, written or told, has more value than diamonds and gold. It costs nothing but warms the heart; it is sweeter than any chocolate tart.”
“You can borrow my toy,” a new voice said. Melissa turned and saw the gingerbread. His friends shared the tasty snack, and in return, they showed Melissa one more way to learn. He said, “If you see a friend in need, don’t hesitate to do a good deed. Try my way to show that you care. I’m kind to my friends, so I share. You get special freckles for kindness,” he said. “They decorate your cheeks and your forehead. These freckles are invisible, my dear girl, but they’ll make your face shine like a pearl. For every kind deed, you will get one; each will brighten your day like the sun. The more freckles you earn on any day, the better you feel; that’s all I can say.”
“Thank you, friends, for showing me the way. I promise to earn my freckles each day.” After Melissa and Teddy had some treats, it was time to leave the Kingdom of Sweets. Melissa woke up with a smile on her face. Kindness makes the world a better place. True kindness is when you do a good deed, not because you have to, but because you feel the need.
“Thanks, Mom! What a yummy meal!” Melissa said and meant it for real. Then she helped her clean the table and pinned it with the “Best Mom” label. Kind deeds have power like a magic wand. If you have this magic, others will respond. So at the end of your day, be proud to say, “How many freckles have I earned on my way?” No act of kindness is ever wasted, and that was my way to kindness.
