Welcome to Storytime!

Hello, friends! How are you today? Are you feeling warm and cozy or cool and breezy? It’s been raining a lot here, so we’re staying inside and having fun with stories. Are you ready to read a book with us? Today, we have a special story called “Nema and Clau” by Amina Ochin. Let’s dive in!

The Story of Nema and Clau

Deep down in the ocean, there lives a sea anemone named Nema. Nema loves the quiet sea and enjoys her peaceful life. But sometimes, other sea creatures come by and disturb her calm.

One day, a friendly fish swam by and said, “Hi there!” But Nema shouted, “Go away! I don’t want anyone near me!” The fish swam away, and Nema was alone again. Even though she liked the quiet, she sometimes felt lonely.

Nema had a secret: her tentacles could sting other fish, so she kept them away. Suddenly, a little clownfish swam up to her, looking scared. “Help! A shark is chasing me! Can I hide in your tentacles?” the clownfish asked.

Before Nema could answer, the clownfish, named Clau, hid safely in her tentacles. The shark swam by, looking for Clau, but Nema stayed very quiet. When the shark left, Clau said, “Thank you so much! I’ll never forget your kindness.” Nema smiled and said, “Take care!”

A New Friendship

Nema was surprised that her tentacles didn’t hurt Clau. She never thought they could help someone. Just as she was relaxing, a hungry butterfly fish appeared and said, “Your tentacles look tasty!” Nema was scared and didn’t know what to do.

But then, Clau came back to help! With a strong tail slap, Clau scared the butterfly fish away. “I won’t let anyone hurt my friend!” Clau said bravely.

Nema was so happy to have a friend like Clau. They became the best of friends, always looking out for each other. It’s wonderful to have a friend you can count on!

Fun Fact!

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Storytime Family. How are you today? Are you keeping warm or cool? It’s been raining non-stop here, and it’s been quite miserable. We’re trying to make the best of being indoors.

I hope you’re ready to sit down and read a book with us today. We have “Nema and Clau” by Amina Ochin. Let’s get started!

**Nema and Clau**

Deep under the sea, there is an anemone called Nema. Nema enjoys the silence of the sea; she’s leading a peaceful life. But sometimes, her quiet life is disturbed by strangers.

“Hi there!” said a friendly fish. “Go away! I don’t want anyone near me!” shouted the anemone as she chased the scared fish away. Nema was left alone again. Even though she enjoys the calm, she sometimes feels lonely.

The truth is that Nema has a secret: her tentacles can hurt other fish, which is why she always keeps them away. Suddenly, a fish swam toward her, screaming and asking for help.

“Please! A shark is chasing me! Let me hide inside the tentacles!” begged the poor clownfish. Nema didn’t get a chance to finish her sentence as Clau already entered and hid between her tentacles.

“Where’s my lunch? I’m pretty sure he went this way!” That’s the shark! Nema was silent as a stone, waiting for the shark to leave.

“Thank you so much! I will never forget your kindness,” said Clau as he was leaving. “Take care,” responded Nema cheerfully.

Nema’s tentacles didn’t harm Clau. The anemone never imagined that one day her tentacles could save someone’s life. But just as Nema was beginning to relax, a hungry butterfly fish appeared before her.

“What an appetizing tentacle you have!” said the butterfly fish. Nema was scared, and to make it worse, she couldn’t even run away. The only thing left to do was call for help.

Hearing her distress call, Clau appeared unexpectedly and saved Nema with a single strong tail slap. “I won’t let anyone hurt my friend!” said Clau as he defeated the butterfly fish.

Nema was deeply moved; she had never had a friend or someone who defended her in the past. Nema and Clau became the best friends in the world. They cared for and protected each other.

It’s always better to have a close friend whom you can count on. Did you know clownfish don’t get stung by sea anemones because they produce a mucus coat on the outside of their skin that protects them?

And that was Nema and Clau! I hope you enjoyed the story of friendship. Do you have a similar relationship with your best friend? Tell us about your best friend; we love to hear from you!
