Hello, friends! How are you today? The sun is shining bright, and it makes me so happy! I hope it makes you happy too. Do you like reading books? Let’s read a fun story together!
Today, we have a funny story called “Oy Dog” by Kes and Claire Gray and Jim. Let’s see what happens in the story!
Once upon a time, a dog liked to sit on frogs. The frogs were squishy and made funny sounds like “burp!” But the frog said, “Hey dog, get off me!”
The cat said, “Dogs should sit on logs, not frogs!” The frog agreed and said, “From now on, dogs sit on logs.”
The dog asked, “What about bears?” The frog said, “Bears will sit on stairs!”
Then the dog asked about slugs. The frog said, “Slugs will sit on plugs, and flies will sit on pies!”
The dog was curious, “What about leopards?” The frog said, “Leopards will sit on shepherds, and cheetahs will sit on fajitas!”
The dog learned a lot of new rules. The frog said, “News will sit on canoes, pigs will sit on wigs, and whales will sit on nails!”
The dog thought whales might not like that, but the frog said they just have to do it!
The dog asked, “What about dragons?” The frog said, “Dragons will sit on wagons, and kittens will sit on mittens!”
Finally, the cat asked, “What will frogs sit on?” The frog smiled and said, “Sun loungers!”
Wasn’t that a fun story? What do you like to sit on?
Now, let’s read another story called “Dreams in a Jar” by Kate Staves and Karen Bunting.
This story is about a special jar where dreams are kept. The person in the story dreams of pirate ships and keeps a coin in the jar. They dream of yummy food and save a candy wrapper!
They dream of winning a race and keep a bottle lid. They dream of mermaids and take a pretty shell home.
There are dreams of playing music, being a pixie, and even flying in a rocket ship! Each dream has a special treasure to keep in the jar.
All these treasures are kept in a jar under the bed. They are memories of all the fun dreams!
What do you dream about? Do you have a special place to keep your dreams?
Thank you for joining us for storytime! Remember to read lots of books and have fun with your dreams. See you next time!
Animal and Object Match Game: Let’s play a fun game where you match animals with the objects they sit on, just like in the story “Oy Dog!” You can draw or use toy animals and objects. For example, draw a dog and a log, a bear and stairs, or a dragon and a wagon. Can you think of more animals and objects that rhyme? Try to come up with your own funny combinations!
Dream Jar Creation: Let’s make our own dream jars, inspired by “Dreams in a Jar.” Find a small jar or container and decorate it with stickers, paint, or colorful paper. Each time you have a dream, draw a picture or write a word about it on a small piece of paper and put it in your jar. Share your dreams with your family or friends and see what fun dreams they have too!
Observation Walk: Go on a walk with a grown-up and look for animals and objects around you. Can you find a cat sitting on a mat or a bird on a branch? Take notes or draw pictures of what you see. When you get home, share your findings and see if you can make a story with the animals and objects you observed!
Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the YouTube transcript:

[Music] Hi everyone, welcome back to the Storytime Family! [Music] How are you today? The sun is coming out here now, and I’m so happy to see the sunshine. The sun makes me happy, and I hope it does for you too!
How many books have you read today? Is this your first book? Well, remember to read lots of books on your own. Today we have “Oy Dog” by Kes and Claire Gray and Jim. Let’s see what “Oy Dog” is about, shall we?
“Oh dog, get off the frog,” said the frog. “But I like sitting on frogs,” said the dog. “Frogs are squishy and squashy, and when you sit on them, they go burp!”
“Have you sat on a frog today?” “You know the rules,” said the cat. “Cats sit on mats, frogs sit on logs, and dogs sit on—well, frogs.”
“Changing the rules,” said the frog. “From now on, dogs sit on logs, not frogs.”
“Really?” said the dog. “Really,” said the frog. “Dogs sit on logs, cats sit on gnats.”
“Ouch! What will bears sit on?” asked the dog. “Bears will sit on stairs,” said the frog.
“What will slugs sit on?” asked the dog. “Slugs will sit on plugs,” said the frog. “Flies will sit on pies, crickets will sit on tickets, and moths will sit on cloths.”
“Can you say that really fast?”
“What will leopards sit on?” asked the dog. “Leopards will sit on shepherds,” said the frog. “Leopards with certain shepherds, and cheetahs will sit on fajitas.”
“I do love fajitas! Do you?”
“You’re really getting the hang of it,” said the frog. “And that’s not all! News will sit on canoes, pigs will sit on wigs, and boars will sit on oars.”
“What will whales sit on?” asked the dog. “Whales will sit on nails,” said the frog.
“I’m not sure whales will like that,” said the dog. “They don’t have to like it; instead of frogs, they just have to do it.”
“What will dragons sit on?” said the dog. “Dragons will sit on wagons,” said the frog. “Dragons will sit on wagons, kittens will sit on mittens, mice will sit on ice, and puppies will sit on guppies.”
“What will crabs sit on?” asked the dog. “Crabs will sit on kebabs,” said the frog. “Poodles will sit on noodles, hornets will sit on cornets, skunks will sit on trunks, and elephants will sit on smelly pants.”
“Elephants aren’t going to sit on smelly pants!” “Yes, they are now,” smiled the frog.
The frog is a cheeky one! Did you think—
“Hold on,” said a cat. “If dogs sit on logs, cats sit on mats, bears sit on stairs, slugs sit on plugs, flies sit on pies, crickets sit on tickets, moths sit on cloths, leopards sit on shepherds, cheetahs sit on fajitas, news sit on canoes, pigs sit on wigs, boars sit on oars, whales sit on nails, dragons sit on wagons, mice sit on ice, kittens sit on mittens, puppies sit on guppies, crabs sit on kebabs, poodles sit on noodles, hornets sit on cornets, skunks sit on trunks, and the elephants sit on smelly pants—what are frogs going to sit on?”
“Sun loungers,” said the frog.
This cheeky little frog would love to sit on one of those too! [Music]

Today we have “Dreams in a Jar” by Kate Staves and Karen Bunting. Let’s have a look at what “Dreams in a Jar” is all about.
There’s a secret I keep that you might think bizarre: I collect up all the dreams I have and keep them in a jar. I dreamt of pirate ships and cannons firing overhead. I took one coin and put it in a jar beneath my bed.
I dreamt the world was made of food, as much as you could eat. I stuffed my face and saved myself a wrapper from a sweet. I dreamt of the Olympic Games, and guess who won first place? I kept the bottle lid so I won’t forget the race.
I dreamt of coral castles filled with mermaids in the sea. I found a pretty shell and thought, “I’ll take it home with me.” I dreamt that I was in a band and played the bass guitar. I scooped confetti from the floor and put it in my jar.
I dreamt I was a pixie and I lived inside a tree. I wore a flower as a hat and took it home with me. I dreamt of all the ancient beasts that used to run and roam. I took a pebble from that place to take back to my home.
I dreamt of ancient pharaohs and a spooky mummy’s tomb. I grabbed a handful of the sand and took it to my room. I dreamt I rode a rocket ship that blasted past the stars. I kept the bolt that toppled off and put it in my jar.
I dreamt I was a grown-up and had meetings in a suit. I took a pencil from my desk to add it to my loot. People see a jar of junk; they don’t see what I see. I treasure all my bits and bobs; it means so much to me.
Trinkets from a thousand worlds, the places I have been, all the things that I have done, and all the things I’ve seen. My dreams are mine forever, and I know just where they are. I keep them there beneath my bed; I keep them in a jar.
And that was “Dreams in a Jar.” What do you do with your dreams? Do you keep them in a jar too? Leave us a comment and tell us about your dreams.
