Today, we are going to have fun with the letter I! Are you ready? Let’s go!
There are two kinds of the letter I. We have a big I and a small i. Can you say “Hooray for I!”? Great job!
Did you know that the letter I is in the word “ice cream”? Yum! Ice cream is a sweet treat that we love to eat. Imagine eating ice cream inside an igloo. An igloo is a house made of ice. Isn’t that cool?
Can you think of other words that start with the letter I? How about “insect” or “island”? Try saying them out loud!
Let’s sing a fun song: “Big I, small i. Hooray for I! He eats ice cream in an igloo. I, I, I!”
Wasn’t that fun? Now you know more about the letter I. Keep practicing and you’ll be an expert in no time!
Ice Cream Art: Let’s make our own ice cream cones using colored paper! Cut out a triangle for the cone and circles for the scoops. How many scoops can you stack on your cone? Write the letter “I” on each scoop. Display your ice cream art at home and practice saying words that start with “I” every time you see it!
Igloo Building Challenge: Use marshmallows and toothpicks to build a small igloo. As you build, think about how igloos are made of ice. Can you make your igloo strong enough to hold a small toy? Talk about how the letter “I” is in the word “igloo” and what other words you can think of that start with “I”.
Insect Hunt: Go on a nature walk with a grown-up and look for insects. How many different kinds can you find? Draw pictures of the insects you see and try to spell their names. Remember, “insect” starts with the letter “I”! Share your drawings with your friends and family and tell them about your insect adventure.
