Today is a super exciting day! Pete the Cat is going to space camp. When Pete arrives, he meets his new friend, Glenn. They start unpacking their things when they hear an announcement:

“Welcome, space campers! Please head to the classroom; your mission begins now!”

“Time to suit up,” says Pete. He and Glenn put on their cool space uniforms and race to the classroom. There are so many fun things to do and amazing things to see!

Learning About Space

Two astronauts, Tom and Chris, talk to the campers about their space adventures. They even share some exciting news about future space trips.

“It would be totally awesome to go to space,” says Pete with a big smile.

The campers get to experience what it’s like to be an astronaut. They float in a zero-gravity chamber, ride in space rovers, and even build rockets. Pete’s rocket flies super far!

“Way to go, Pete!” cheers Glenn.

Mission to the Moon

Next, the campers visit mission control. Tom has some exciting news: “Our next flight leaves today. We’re going to the moon, and we have room for more. Pete, do you want to go?”

“That would be awesome!” says Pete, feeling thrilled.

It’s time to buckle up and get ready for the big adventure. “Five, four, three, two, one… liftoff!”

The spaceship zooms through space. They fly past satellites and even see a bright comet. Tom and Sally have a special surprise for Pete; he plays a fun song for everyone to enjoy. Mission control listens in and loves it!

Exploring the Moon

Soon, they arrive on the moon, ready to explore. The astronauts collect moon rocks and make maps of the moon’s surface. Pete has an important job; he puts on a jet pack and flies towards Mars to take lots of pictures.

Oh no! Pete loses track of time, and the moon is far away. He needs to hurry back to the spaceship before it leaves. Whew! Pete makes it back just in time.

Heading Home

The astronauts head back home, and there’s time for a few more songs. Pete sure knows how to make everyone smile!

Pete’s trip to outer space was out of this world! But he’s also happy to have his feet back on solid ground.

“Rock it on, Pete!”

The End
  • What do you think it would be like to go to space like Pete the Cat? What would you want to see or do if you were an astronaut?
  • Pete made a new friend named Glenn at space camp. Can you think of a time when you made a new friend? What did you do together?
  • Pete had an important job on the moon. If you could have any job in space, what would it be and why?
  1. Build Your Own Rocket: Gather some simple materials like paper towel rolls, construction paper, tape, and markers. Encourage the children to design and build their own rockets. Once completed, have a “rocket launch” where they can show off their creations. Ask them to imagine where their rocket would go and what they might see on their journey.

  2. Moon Rock Hunt: Create a scavenger hunt in your backyard or a local park. Hide small rocks painted silver or wrapped in aluminum foil to resemble moon rocks. As the children find them, discuss what real moon rocks might look like and what scientists can learn from them. Encourage them to think about how astronauts collect samples in space.

  3. Space Adventure Storytime: Ask the children to imagine they are astronauts like Pete. What would they pack for their space trip? Where would they go? Have them draw a picture of their space adventure and write a short story about it. Share these stories with the class and discuss the different places they chose to explore in space.
