Once upon a time, it was the day before Christmas. Santa wasn’t feeling well because he caught a cold from the chilly winter wind. “Oh no! Will Christmas be canceled?” everyone wondered. But Santa said, “No way! Let’s ask Pete the Cat for help!”
Santa needed Pete to deliver toys to all the good girls and boys. Pete said, “I’ll do it! Even though I’m small, I will try my best because Christmas is about giving!”
Pete hopped into his minibus and shouted, “Road trip! First stop, the North Pole!” The reindeer were ready to help Pete, so he packed up the presents and they zoomed off!
The minibus flew through the sky just like in a movie. Pete was excited and said, “This is so much fun! I can do it! Even though I’m small, I will give it my all because Christmas is about giving!”
While the children were sleeping in their cozy beds, Pete and the reindeer flew above them. Pete slid down the chimneys quickly and quietly, delivering gifts to each house. Every time he delivered a gift, he checked a name off Santa’s list.
The list was very long, and Pete felt tiny, but he remembered that Christmas is about giving, so he kept going!
Finally, they reached the last house just in time. Pete dashed in and out as quietly as a mouse. As the sun began to rise on Christmas morning, Pete and the reindeer flew back to the North Pole.
Santa was waiting for them, and all the elves were cheering. “Thank you, Pete! Being small is cool!” Santa said, wearing his red coat and hat. “Hooray for Pete the Cat!”
Pete smiled and said, “I did it! Even though I’m small, I gave it my all because Christmas is about giving!”
And that’s how Pete the Cat saved Christmas!
Gift Giving Role Play: Gather some small boxes or bags and let the children pretend to be Pete the Cat delivering gifts. They can take turns being Pete and the children waiting for gifts. Encourage them to think about what gifts they would like to give to their friends or family and why giving is important. Ask them, “How does it feel to give a gift to someone else?”
Draw Your Own Adventure: Provide paper and crayons for the children to draw their own version of Pete’s adventure. Ask them to imagine a new place Pete could visit or a new challenge he might face while delivering gifts. Encourage them to share their drawings with the class and explain their story. Ask, “What new place did Pete visit in your story, and how did he show that Christmas is about giving?”
Observation Walk: Take the children on a short walk around the school or playground. Ask them to look for ways they can be helpful or kind to others, just like Pete was. After the walk, discuss what they observed and how they can apply the idea of giving in their everyday lives. Pose the question, “What small act of kindness can you do today to make someone happy?”

[Music]
‘Twas the day before Christmas and Santa was ill.
In the cold winter wind, he had caught a bad chill.
“Will Christmas be canceled? Will it come to that?”
“Never!” cried Santa. “Let’s call Pete the Cat.”
Santa asked Pete to deliver the toys
To all the good girls and to all the good boys.
[Music]
“I’ll do it!” said Pete, “and although I am small,
At Christmas we give, so I’ll give it my all.
Give it your all, give it your all,
At Christmas we give, so give it your all.”
Pete jumped in his minibus and started to roll.
“Road trip!” cried Pete. “First stop, the North Pole!”
The reindeer were waiting to give Pete a tow,
So he packed up the presents and told them to go.
[Music]
Then the minibus flew, just like in a movie.
Pete the Cat cried, “This is totally groovy!”
“I can do it!” said Pete, “and although I am small,
At Christmas we give, so I’ll give it my all.
Give it your all, give it your all,
At Christmas we give, so give it your all.”
As the children were sleeping, all snug in their beds,
Pete in his reindeer appeared overhead.
Straight down the chimney, Pete flew in a dash,
Then back to his minibus, quick as a flash.
Each time he delivered a holiday gift,
He crossed off a name written on Santa’s list.
Santa’s list was so big, and Pete felt so small,
But at Christmas we give, so he gave it his all.
Give it your all, give it your all,
At Christmas we give, so give it your all.
At the very last minute, they reached the last house.
Pete dashed in and out, just as quiet as a mouse.
Then right at the break of the new Christmas day,
Pete and his reindeer were flying away.
Back at the North Pole, old Santa was waiting.
The elves in the town were all celebrating.
“Thank you, Pete! Small is cool!”
Santa was dressed in his red coat and hat and cried,
“Hip hip hooray for our friend Pete the Cat!”
“I did it!” said Pete, “and although I am small,
In the spirit of Christmas, I gave it my all.
Give it your all, give it your all,
At Christmas we give, so give it your all.”
