Hello, friends! Today, we have a fun story to share with you. It’s all about pirates and their love for something very special. Are you ready to join us on this adventure? Let’s get started!
Our story is called “Pirates Love Underpants” by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort. These silly pirates are on a special quest. Do you know what a quest is? It’s like a big adventure to find something important. The pirates want to find the magical pants of gold for their treasure chest. Let’s cheer them on, “Go, pirates, go!”
The pirates set sail on their big ship. They have a special map to help them find the treasure. But wait, what’s that sound? Is it birds? No, it’s the pirates getting ready for their adventure!
They sail to a place called Big Knickers Bay. There, they find a surprise! Someone else has been there before. Oh no! What will the pirates do now?
The pirates have to be very clever. They come up with a sneaky plan to get the underpants. But as they tiptoe around, the captain’s parrot makes a loud noise! Oh no, will the pirates get caught?
Even though things get tricky, the pirates don’t give up. They remember that pirates never fail! And guess what? They finally get the underpants! Hooray!
This story teaches us that we should never give up, just like the pirates. And it’s always a good idea to check the elastic on your underpants before you wear them, so they don’t fall down!
Did you know that pirates used to sail the seas a long time ago? They loved to go on adventures and find treasures. Pirates wore special clothes, like hats and boots, and sometimes they even had parrots as pets!
Now that you know all about pirates, you can pretend to be one too! Grab a pretend pirate hat, make a treasure map, and go on your own adventure. Remember, pirates never fail!
Thanks for joining us for story time. We hope you had fun! Until next time, keep exploring and learning new things!
Create Your Own Treasure Map: Let’s go on a treasure hunt! Draw your own treasure map on a piece of paper. Think about where you would hide your treasure. Is it under a tree, near a big rock, or by a river? Use symbols to show these places on your map. Once your map is ready, hide a small toy or treat somewhere in your house or yard and use your map to find it. Remember, just like the pirates, you can ask for help if you get stuck!
Pirate Dress-Up and Role Play: Pretend to be a pirate for a day! Use items from around your house to create a pirate costume. You can use a scarf as a pirate hat, a cardboard tube as a telescope, and a stuffed animal as your parrot. Practice saying pirate phrases like “Ahoy, matey!” and “Shiver me timbers!” Gather your family or friends and act out a pirate adventure. What treasure will you find?
Think Like a Pirate: Pirates had to be clever and solve problems. Imagine you are a pirate who needs to cross a river to get to the treasure. What materials could you use to build a bridge? Draw a picture of your bridge and explain how it would work. Remember, there are no wrong answers, just creative ideas!

Hey, I’m running the gun and I’m Craig Toby, and welcome to Story Time with Ryan Lagaan! Aintree Toby, remember if you like what you see, follow us on Instagram or go to our website. You can watch all of our releases there or send us a message.
Oh, do you have a message? I do! I want to give a shout-out to Henrietta and River Farrington from Richmond, Texas, for sending today’s book and a really great drawing. Yeah, that drawing was awesome! Thanks for sending today’s book; we can’t wait to read it because today’s book is “Pirates Love Underpants” by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort. Let’s get started!
What does that sound like? Birds?
“Pirates Love Underpants” by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort. These pirates love underpants! They’re on a special quest to find the fabled pants of gold for the captain’s treasure chest. “Anchors away!” the captain cries. “Hoist up black bloomers! Sail unfurl the secret treasure map. Pants pirates never fail!”
Yes! Come on, pirate stars are so great! Yeah, pirates never fail at loving the underpants! Go get ’em!
Whoa, Craig! What if they don’t get the underpants?
Ryan, can’t think like that. Pirates never fail!
Black Bloomer Bob’s upon the waves! The captain shouts, “Hooray! Sharks and fancy underpants! We found Big Knickers Bay!” The pirates grab their shiny swords and row their boats to shore. “Yank me hearties! What is this? Someone’s been here before!” The footprints lead through shifting dunes across the Three Pants Ridge. Snap! Snap! Snarl! The hungry crocs beneath the Long John Bridge!
Crocs under the bridge? Things are getting dangerous and exciting!
Yeah, I’m excited but I’m also scared, Craig. But what if they don’t get the underpants?
Ryan, you brought that up before, and we’ll say it one more time: we can’t think like that.
Okay, why?
Because pirates never fail, right?
Don’t ask them!
The pirates wade through gurgling swamps, through caves as black as night. They trekked through prickly undergrowth. Then, oh what a sight! “We’re here too late!” the pirates gasp. “Another pirate crew! What are we going to do?”
Wow, oh man! Yeah, this is a tough challenge, but I think they could do it!
Craig, what if they don’t get the underpants? Because they’re pirates too, and you said pirates never fail!
I think now more than ever, Ryan, we can’t think like that. Pirates never fail!
Which pirates?
I don’t know, they just can’t think about it! The captain has a cunning plan. It’s clever, it’s fantastic! Grab their fancy underpants and cut through the elastics while the rival pirates sleep. They snip around on tiptoe, but help! The captain’s parrot squawks and wakes them up!
Oh no! Grab those pants! The captain shouts. “They’re after us!” But with their pants around their feet, they don’t get very far.
Yes, they got them! Oh my gosh, you were right! I didn’t need to worry at all because pirates never fail! They got the underpants!
Yeah, they did!
Oh my gosh! Finding treasure fills our whole boozy be the best! The glittering handsome gold! So when you put your pants on, check the elastic is in place, or like those silly pirates found, you’ll have a bright red face!
Wow, yes! What a great book! So good! You learn so much today!
Mm-hmm! One, pirates never fail!
Nope! To check the elastic on your underpants before you put them on!
Yeah, exactly!
Oh, question, Ryan. So help me, please don’t say it!
What if you lose your underpants?
No glasses! Because then if you lose them, you can’t see where your underpants are, and you don’t know where to put them on your waist!
