The lesson highlights the importance of engaging and enjoyable methods for learning math, particularly through the Singapore Math approach, which uses relatable examples to make concepts easier for children to grasp. Kids Academy offers an app filled with fun games and activities designed to foster a love for math and enhance understanding. Ultimately, the lesson emphasizes that math is not only essential for everyday life but can also be a fun and exciting adventure.
  1. What are some fun ways we can learn math, like the kids in Singapore?
  2. Why do you think it’s important to learn math in our everyday lives?
  3. How can using real things, like apples and shoes, help us understand math better?

The Exciting World of Math Learning

Did you know that many great scientists started their amazing journeys when they were kids? With the right tools and fun ways to learn, you can become really good at math too! In Singapore, kids are super at math because they use a special way of learning called Singapore Math. At Kids Academy, we’ve taken this cool method and made an app full of fun games to help you learn math just like kids in Singapore do!

How Does Singapore Math Work?

Imagine you have five apples. For grown-ups, that’s easy to understand. But for kids, we can make it even more fun! Think of it as having two apples and then getting three more. Or, if you’re learning about multiplication, imagine you have four pairs of shoes. That’s like saying four times two! By using real things like apples and shoes, we help you understand math in a way that’s easy and fun.

Fun Learning Tools

Our learning plan is packed with hundreds of exciting games, activities, videos, and worksheets that you can print out. All of these are made with the help of teachers who know how to make learning fun. We want to make math something you enjoy and understand easily!

Why Learning Math is Important

Math is everywhere! It’s in the games you play, the recipes you help cook, and even in the music you listen to. By learning math, you can solve problems, think logically, and understand the world better. Plus, it’s super fun when you learn it in a playful way!

So, are you ready to start your math adventure? Let’s make learning math an exciting journey together!

  • Can you think of a time when you used math in your everyday life, like when playing a game or helping in the kitchen? What did you do, and how did math help you?
  • If you could create a fun math game, what would it be about? What kind of things would you use to make math exciting and easy to understand?
  • Why do you think learning math is important? How do you think it helps people in their jobs or in solving problems?
  1. Apple Addition Adventure: Gather some apples or any other small objects you have at home. Start by counting a few of them, like three or four. Then, add more objects to your group and count again. How many do you have now? Try different combinations and see how the numbers change. Can you write down the addition sentences for each combination you make?

  2. Shoe Multiplication Game: Find pairs of shoes in your house. Count how many pairs you have. Now, think about how many individual shoes that makes. For example, if you have three pairs, how many shoes do you have in total? Write down the multiplication sentence that matches your shoes. Try this with different numbers of pairs and see how multiplication works in real life!

  3. Math in Music: Listen to your favorite song and try to find the math in it! Count the beats in a measure or see if you can find patterns in the rhythm. How many times does a certain part of the song repeat? Talk about what you find with a friend or family member. Can you create your own simple rhythm using claps or taps and count the beats?

The journey of every great scientist often begins in childhood, and with the right approach, your child can also become a skilled mathematician or at least proficient with numbers. When it comes to math, students in Singapore excel due to a unique three-step learning process known as Singapore Math. At Kids Academy, we have adopted this approach and developed an app that utilizes fun, interactive games to teach math in the Singaporean style.

Here’s how it works: For adults, the concept of five can be represented as two apples and three more apples. For children, understanding four times two can be simplified to four pairs of shoes. We create a connection between tangible objects and abstract mathematical concepts, helping kids develop a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of math.

Our learning plan includes hundreds of games, interactive activities, videos, and printable worksheets, all designed with the assistance of professional educators. Let’s make math easy to understand and enjoyable to learn!
