  2. How did Kira help her sister with the party?
  3. Why was it important for the princesses to work together?

Princesses Wear Pants: A Fun Adventure

Once upon a time, in a magical place called the Kiwi Fruitdom, there were two sisters, Karina and Kira. Their parents were busy with important royal duties, so Karina got to be the Acting Queen. She had a big job to do: plan the Royal Garden Party! This party was super special because it helped the royal family connect with all the people in the Fruitdom.

Getting Ready for the Party

Kira was excited to help her sister Karina. She had lots of fun ideas, like setting up a Teenykin station where everyone could play with cute little toys. But Karina was worried because their mom’s parties never had Teenykins. Kira thought it would be a great way for everyone to have fun together!

Princess Power to the Rescue

Karina realized she couldn’t do everything by herself, so she decided to use her Princess Power and ask for help. Kira and her friends were ready to jump into action! They promised to make the party amazing with decorations, a chocolate fountain, and even a special table runner.

Frogs and a Storm!

Suddenly, frogs started hopping all over the place! The princesses quickly helped the frogs get back to their pond. Then, they noticed something strange. The frogs were acting funny, just like they do before a storm. Oh no! A big storm was coming, and they needed to tell Karina.

Saving the Day

The storm was getting stronger, and Karina’s crown fell into a rushing river! Kira and her friends had to think fast. They used a hang-glider and horses to chase the crown. With teamwork and a clever plan, they saved the crown just in time!

A New Kind of Party

Karina realized that she could have her own kind of Royal Garden Party. Even though it was raining, they decided to move the party inside. Everyone could still have fun and share ideas. Karina learned that being a great queen means doing things her own way, and Kira learned to help in a way that supports her sister’s ideas.

The Best Party Ever

With the party moved inside, everyone had a wonderful time. They played with Teenykins, enjoyed the chocolate fountain, and celebrated being together. Karina and Kira showed that princesses can wear pants and still be amazing leaders!

And so, the Royal Garden Party was a big success, and everyone in the Kiwi Fruitdom was happy. The sisters learned that working together and being themselves was the best way to make magic happen!

  • What do you think makes Karina and Kira good leaders, and how do they show teamwork in the story?
  • Have you ever had to change your plans because of unexpected events, like Karina did with the storm? How did you handle it?
  • If you were planning a party like Karina and Kira, what fun activities or decorations would you include to make everyone happy?
  1. Role-Playing Adventure: Gather some costumes or props and let the children act out the story of Karina and Kira. Encourage them to think about how they would handle planning a party or dealing with unexpected events like a storm. Ask them, “What would you do if you were Karina or Kira? How would you use teamwork to solve problems?” This activity helps children understand the importance of collaboration and creativity.

  2. Weather Watchers: Take the children outside to observe the weather. Discuss how animals, like the frogs in the story, might behave differently before a storm. Ask them, “Can you spot any signs of changing weather? How do you think animals know when a storm is coming?” Encourage them to draw or write about what they see and share their observations with the class. This activity connects the story to real-world science and observation skills.

  3. Create Your Own Party Plan: Provide paper, crayons, and stickers for the children to design their own Royal Garden Party. Encourage them to think about what activities, decorations, and snacks they would include. Ask, “What makes a party fun for everyone? How can you make sure everyone feels included?” This activity promotes planning, creativity, and consideration for others.

That’s my big sister, Karina. Since our parents have royal duties on the other side of the island, she gets to be the Acting Queen and plan the Royal Garden Party… a major Kiwi Fruitdom event where the Royal Family connects with the Fruitizens to ensure the community has what it needs. Karina’s even wearing our great-grandmother’s crown, which has been passed down through generations.

But do you know the best part? I get to hang out with her all day and help! And Mr. Scrumples and I have lots of ideas. Right, Mr. Scrumples?

-[squeaks]

-Karina! Mr. Scrumples and I are ready to help you with the Royal Garden Party!

Oh, uh, thanks, Kira, but you don’t have to. I got this.

We know we don’t have to. We want to! We already made a Teenykin station. Look!

-[squeaks]

Teenykin station? The whole point of the party is to connect with the community! And what better way to connect than by playing with teenykins?

-[meow]

You’re right. But Mom’s Royal Garden Parties never have Teenykins.

-[meows]

No! [gasps] [meows] Sorry!

It’s okay. But you should have fun with your Teenykins. Running the party’s so much work. There’s the setup, then the actual party, then the clean-up, and–

And that’s why you shouldn’t do it all on your own!

-[gasps] That’s it! I’ll get you Princess Power to help.

Princesses! My parents are away, so Karina is throwing the Royal Garden Party for the Kiwians! It’s gotta be “teenykin-tastic,” but it’s so much work.

-I know she can use our princess help.

To the Kiwi Fruitdom!

[yowls][gentle music plays]

They all look so good! I don’t know what to try first.

-[meows]

You think so, Miss Fussywiggles?

[gasps] Miss Fussywiggles?

[princesses giggle]

Penny, you can set up the chocolate fountain. Bea, you can bring up Fussy’s chaise for the Kiwi kittens. And Rita, you can make a teenykin-tastic table runner for the banquet table.

Uh, what are you doing?

We’re making this party Rita-rific!

Kira, I know you’re trying to help, but I really want to do the party the way Mom does it. And she’s never had a chocolate fountain, or a table runner, or Kiwi kittens at a Royal Garden Party.

I know! But the party’s all about being together, right? And everyone will love a decorated table, cute teenykins, and a chocolate fountain, where everyone can gather and chat!

Chatting with chocolate! It’s got a nice ring to it.

This is my garden party! And I say no Kiwi kittens or chocolate fountains or…

[ribbit][ribbit]

Frogs! Aah! They’re everywhere!

[ribbit]

This is so strange. Why are the frogs so high up and so far away from their pond?

[ribbit]

I don’t know, but please get them out of here!

Happy to help. Princesses! Let’s get these frogs back to the water!

Come on, froggy friends.

My hands are full! I can’t hold any more!

You can! My fantabulous tablecloth doubles as a frog sack!

[Karina]

Oh!

[ribbits]

I’ve got him! I read that frogs can jump up to 20 times their body length.

That explains how they got up here, but not why.

Just please get them out of here, Kira! Now!

Karina might not want my help, but we can still help the frogs.

Okay, froggies. Pond sweet pond.

[ribbit][yowling][scoffs]

Fussy! What’s wrong? You’re acting so weird!

[Rita]

Weirder than the frogs?

[Bea]

It’s a tie. Fussy is acting weird. And so are the frogs. They were all trying to get up high… which animals only do before a storm!

I smell drama!

Does that mean a storm is coming?

Sounds like a question for science. According to my Pineapple barometer, there is a storm coming. And it’ll hit… right now.

What about the party? You can’t have a party in a big storm!

We have to tell Karina!

Let’s take the froggies to my room so they’re not out in the storm.

[wind howling]

Karina! The storm is getting worse by the second! You have to cancel the party!

I can’t cancel! The Kiwians need this party! It’s where we share ideas to help the Fruitdom.

It’ll be fine. It’s just a little windy!

[gasps][Karina shouting]

If we just wait it out, I’m sure everything will be fine!

My crown!

[all gasp][all]

That’s not good. What am I going to do? That was our great-grandmother’s crown, the one I’m supposed to wear when I’m Queen!

It’s not lost yet! Let’s see. One crown, plus one rushing river, plus big rocks ahead equals crown-crushing crisis!

We need to get to the river fast!

Fast is my middle name. Actually, it’s Gertrude, but either way, I got my hang-glider.

And we have horses. Saddle up, sis.

There’s no one better on a horse than you.

[exciting music plays]

[Karina]

There’s the crown! And here’s a be-dazzlous lasso to grab it. I made it from the frog sack– you know, just in case.

[grunt]

Ruffles! We were so close!

Uh, try it again.

Science snag. One wrong move and we lose the crown!

I think we need a new plan.

Give me just one second to think.

I got it! Sea birds get fish when they hover over the river. Bea, if you hover over the river, you can grab the crown!

Hover, huh. Ugh, sounds tough. I like it.

Karina! Can you get ahead of the crown and jump over the river?

Easy.

[energetic music plays]

[neighs][dramatic music plays]

My sister’s got skills.

Penny! Catch the rope!

And now Bea!

Stop. Hover time.

[grunts]

Whoa!

[grunting][sighs]

Whoo-hoo! Yeah! All right!

[majestic theme plays]

Thank you so much. That was awesome, Bea!

Kira! That was an amazing plan. You really saved me.

Are you kidding? It would have never worked without you landing the biggest jump ever!

I’m sorry I got so snippy before. I just really didn’t want to cancel the Royal Garden Party.

Well, maybe we don’t have to. We can move it inside.

But we always do it outside. I have to do everything just like Mom would do it, or it won’t be right.

But today, you’re the Queen, and the Kiwians want to connect with you! You should have the party your own way so everyone can see what an incredible Queen you are!

You really think so?

I do! And I should let you do that. I really wanted to help, but I should have helped you do things your way, not mine. I’m sorry.

You’re right. I can have my own Royal Garden Party. And at my party, I want all the Kiwians to see that both their princesses have lots of big ideas.

-[thunder crashing]

-[rain pattering]

Everything you suggested is perfect! The Fruitdom’s really lucky to have you as its princess.

And I’m lucky you’re my sister.

Thanks! You’re a teenykin-tastic Acting Queen too!

Speaking of teenykins, wanna show me the teenykin station?

I’d love to! Come on!
