Today’s Story: “Bad Kitty Does Not Like Snow”

Today, we’re reading a fun book called “Bad Kitty Does Not Like Snow” by Nick Bruel. It’s all about a kitty who is about to discover something new and chilly!

What is Snow?

Guess what? It’s snowing outside! But Kitty has never seen snow before. Kitty is curious and asks the computer, “What is snow?” The computer says snow is cold, wet, slippery, and soft. Hmm, sounds interesting, right?

Kitty’s Snow Adventure

Kitty thinks she’s ready to go outside and see the snow. But wait! Is she really ready? The snow is very cold, and Kitty might not like it. Maybe it’s better to stay inside by the warm fire, Kitty!

Kitty’s Surprise

When Kitty finally steps outside, she finds out that the snow is indeed very cold, wet, slippery, and soft. Oh no! Kitty does not like the snow at all. And guess what? Kitty doesn’t like the computer either because it told her about the snow!

Let’s Have Fun with Snow!

Even though Kitty doesn’t like snow, snow can be lots of fun! You can make snowmen, have snowball fights, or even make snow angels. Just remember to wear warm clothes so you don’t get too cold!

Our Own Snow Story

Maybe we can write our own story about snow. What would you call it? How about “Happy Kitty Loves Snow”? That sounds like a fun story to read!

Thanks for joining us for Story Time. We hope you had fun learning about Kitty and the snow. See you next time for another exciting story!

  1. Have you ever seen or played in the snow? What was it like, and how did it make you feel?
  2. If you were Kitty, what would you do in the snow? Would you try to make a snowman or have a snowball fight?
  3. Can you think of a time when you tried something new and didn’t like it at first? What did you do next?
  1. Snow Observation Walk: If it’s snowing outside, take a short walk with an adult to observe the snow. What does it feel like? Is it cold, wet, or soft like in the story? If there’s no snow, you can use ice cubes to feel something cold and wet. Talk about how it feels and what you notice. Can you make a small snowball or ice ball?

  2. Snow Art: Use white paper and cotton balls to create your own snowy scene. Glue the cotton balls onto the paper to make snowmen, snowflakes, or even a snowy landscape. What other things can you add to your snowy picture? Maybe a kitty like in the story!

  3. Imagine Your Own Snow Adventure: Think about what you would do if you were in the snow. Would you build a snow fort, make a snow angel, or have a snowball fight? Draw a picture of your snow adventure and share your story with a friend or family member. What would you call your story?

Here’s a sanitized version of the provided YouTube transcript:

Hey, I’m Ryan, and welcome to Story Time with Ryan, Lagaan, Ingrid, and Jodi! Remember, if you like what you see, follow us on Instagram or visit our website where you can watch all of our read-alouds or send us a message.

Today’s book is “Bad Kitty Does Not Like Snow” by Nick Bruel.

It is snowing! If I read the title correctly, Kitty is not going to like the snow. Bad sign for you, Kitty! You’re not going to like it. Do you even know what snow is? Kitty has never seen snow and doesn’t know what it is, so Kitty asks the computer, “What is snow?” The computer tells Kitty that snow is cold, wet, slippery, and soft.

Now Kitty is ready for the snow. No, you’re not! You’re not prepared at all! You do not know what is about to hit you when you walk out that door. It’s so cold! Just stay inside, Kitty. You are not going to like this. I swear I read the title: “Bad Kitty Does Not Like Snow.” You’re not going to like it.

Stay inside by a warm fire, Kitty! The snow is cold, wet, slippery, and soft. Snow has fallen, and kitties go home.

Meow! The computer is wrong. Snow is very soft, slippery, wet, and very, very cold. Kitty does not like computers, and Kitty does not like snow. But in fairness, it could be called “Bad Kitty Does Not Like Snow” or “Computers.”

Bad Kitty is a hater! We could call it “Hater Kitty.” But not “Hate Her Kitty,” because that’s a different thing. You’d see it; you’d get it. So yeah, “Hater Kitty” would fly off the shelves! We should write our own book: “Bad Kitty Does Not Like Snow” by Nick Bruel.
