Hi there! My name is Charlie, and I’m a little bird. Sometimes, I like to hide behind branches to feel safe. But guess what? I have a big dream. I want to be big!
Even though I’m small, I can fly really high, even higher than a big peacock! That’s because I have big wings. I love exploring big places with big ponds, rocks, and trees.
One day, I met a moose with big antlers. I said, “Hi Moose, I’m Charlie. Your antlers are big, but they scare me a little.” Moose said, “Don’t be scared, I won’t hurt you.” I felt big when I perched on Moose’s antlers, but when Moose started to run, I flew away quickly!
Next, I saw a big fish jumping in the pond. I asked, “How can I be as big as you?” The fish splashed away, and I got a little wet, but I flew off just fine.
Then, I met a woolly lamb. I asked, “How can I be big like you?” The lamb asked, “Why do you want to be big?” I thought about it and realized I was just tired of being small and scared.
I heard a growly voice, but it was friendly. The voice said, “Fly up high into the sky and look down. You’ll see how big you can be!”
I flew up, up, up into the sky. When I looked down, everything looked small! Moose, fish, and lamb were all tiny. I felt like the biggest creature in the whole world!
That was my adventure! I love reading stories like this. Books are full of fun and laughter. You can read them anywhere—on a car, plane, or even a train. Ask your guardian to get you some books, and you’ll have lots of fun too!
Thanks for joining me on my adventure. For more stories, you can try the Vox app for free today. Happy reading!

Size Comparison Game: Gather some toys or objects of different sizes. Line them up from smallest to biggest. Talk about what makes each object big or small. Can you find something in your house that is bigger than you? What about something smaller? Share your findings with a friend or family member and explain why you think some things are big and others are small.
Imaginative Play: Be Like Charlie: Pretend you are Charlie the bird. Use your arms as wings and fly around your home or yard. Imagine meeting a moose, a fish, and a lamb. How would you talk to them? What would you ask them about being big? Share your adventure with someone and talk about how it feels to be small but do big things, just like Charlie.
