Today, we’re reading “Nibbles the Book Monster” by Emma Yarlett. Let’s dive into the story!
Nibbles is a little monster who loves to nibble on everything! He nibbles soap, socks, rubber ducks, and even clocks! But do you know what Nibbles loves to nibble the most? Cheese!
Oh no! Nibbles has nibbled his way out of this book! Can you see him? He’s gone into another story!
Nibbles has found his way into “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” Goldilocks tries the big bowl of porridge, but it’s too salty. The medium bowl is sweet, and the teeny-tiny bowl is just right!
When the three bears come home, they find their porridge eaten and chairs broken. Who could it be? It’s a monster!
Now, Nibbles is in “Little Red Riding Hood.” Little Red visits Grandma’s cottage, but Grandma looks strange!
“Oh no, Red! What big fluffy paws you have!”
“All the better to nibble with!”
After some excitement, Grandma is free from the cupboard. Thank you, Nibbles!
Nibbles has nibbled into “Jack and the Beanstalk.” Jack climbs the beanstalk and finds a giant house. The giant feels something strange.
“Something just bit my bottom!”
The giant tries to catch the intruder, but they escape. Will Jack make it home for dinner?
Quick, let’s close the book before Nibbles escapes again! Well done! We must keep an eye on Nibbles, or he’ll nibble his way into another story!
Can you hear something? What’s that noise? Oh no, Nibbles has escaped again! Where could he be?
Nibbles, come back!
Nibble Hunt: Create a fun scavenger hunt at home or in the classroom. Hide small paper cutouts of Nibbles around the area. Encourage the children to find as many Nibbles as they can. After the hunt, discuss where they found Nibbles and what he might have been nibbling on in those spots. This activity helps children practice observation and recall skills.
Story Mix-Up: Ask the children to imagine what would happen if Nibbles nibbled his way into another story they know. Have them draw a picture or act out a scene where Nibbles interacts with characters from their chosen story. Encourage them to think about how Nibbles might change the story and what the characters would do. This activity fosters creativity and understanding of story structure.
Nibble’s Favorite Snack: Discuss with the children what their favorite snacks are and why. Then, have them create a simple snack using cheese, since Nibbles loves cheese the most. They can use cheese slices, crackers, and other toppings to make a “Nibbles Snack.” Encourage them to describe the taste and texture, and think about why Nibbles might love cheese. This activity connects the story to real-life experiences and encourages descriptive language.

Hi, I’m Ranma God, and I’m Craig Toby. Welcome to Story Time with Ryan!
Remember, if you like what you see, follow us on Instagram or visit our website. You can watch all of our read-alongs or send us a message.
I have something to say, Ryan! I want to give a shout-out to Colton Summers in Mr. Williams’ first-grade class and all of the students at Venus Primary School. Thanks for sending us today’s book! You guys are so cool!
Today’s book is “Nibbles the Book Monster” by Emma Yarlett. Let’s get started!
This is a story about a little monster called Nibbles. Nibbles likes to nibble soap, socks, rubber ducks, and even clocks! Nibbles loves to nibble toes and hooks, but Nibbles’ favorite thing of all to nibble on is cheese.
Oh no, where’s Nibbles? He’s nibbled his way out of this book! Can you see him?
Nibbles has nibbled his way into someone else’s story: “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.”
Nibbles, no nibbling! First, Goldilocks tried the big bowl of porridge, but it was too salty. Then she tried the medium-sized bowl, and it was sweet. Finally, she tried the teeny-tiny bowl of porridge, and it was just right!
When the three bears came home, they were shocked to find someone had eaten their porridge and broken their chairs. It wasn’t me; it was a monster!
The three bears were in for quite a surprise when they realized a curious little yellow-haired rascal had eaten their chairs and slept in their porridge.
Quick, let’s catch him!
Now, Nibbles has nibbled his way into “Little Red Riding Hood.”
Deep in the dark forest, Little Red found Grandma’s cottage. She knocked on the door and went inside. Grandma looked very strange!
“Oh no, Red! What big fluffy paws you have!”
“All the better to nibble with!”
After a hullabaloo, Grandma was set free from the cupboard.
Thank you, Nibbles! You’ve turned me into a chicken!
Little Red Riding Hood loves to visit her grandma, but one day she meets someone very hairy who wants her picnic basket for lunch.
Oh dear, Little Red is not happy! We really need to catch Nibbles this time; he’s making a real mess of things!
Now, Nibbles is in “Jack and the Beanstalk.”
Jack climbs the beanstalk and finds a giant house. The giant sits in his giant chair, but something feels off.
“Something just bit my bottom!”
The giant tries to catch the intruder, but they manage to escape.
When Jack climbs the beanstalk, he finds a giant golden goose and a grumpy giant. Will Jack make it home for dinner?
Phew! That was a close call!
Now, quick! Let’s close the book before Nibbles escapes again.
Well done! You really mustn’t take your eyes off Nibbles, not even for one second.
Can you hear something? What’s that noise?
Oh no, not again! Nibbles has escaped the book! He could be anywhere!
Nibbles, come back!
