Hello, friends! Today, we’re going to hear a magical story about a special reindeer named Rudolph. Are you ready? Let’s begin!
Far, far away at the North Pole, there’s a happy place called Christmas Town. Here, reindeer families live in cozy caves, elves make toys for children, and Mrs. Claus makes sure Santa eats lots of yummy food. Everyone loves Christmas Town!
One spring, a reindeer named Donner became a proud dad. He and his wife had a baby reindeer named Rudolph. But guess what? Rudolph had a shiny red nose that glowed bright! Santa was worried that Rudolph might not fit in with the other reindeer because of his glowing nose.
Rudolph’s dad, Donner, taught him all about being a reindeer and warned him about the Abominable Snow Monster. Rudolph had to wear a cover on his nose to hide its glow. Meanwhile, an elf named Hermie wanted to be a dentist, not a toy maker, and felt like he didn’t belong.
One day, Rudolph went to the reindeer games and met a sweet reindeer named Clarice. She liked Rudolph just the way he was! But when Rudolph’s nose cover fell off, the other reindeer laughed at him. Feeling sad, Rudolph ran away.
Rudolph met Hermie, and they decided to go on an adventure together. They met Yukon Cornelius and his dog sled team. They all escaped from the Abominable Snow Monster and found a place called the Island of Misfit Toys, where toys waited to be loved by children.
Rudolph promised to tell Santa about the toys. He realized he missed his family and Clarice, so he went back home. On his way, he bravely faced the Abominable Snow Monster to save Clarice. Hermie helped by pulling out the monster’s teeth, and they all became friends!
Back in Christmas Town, everyone realized how special Rudolph and Hermie were. Santa needed help because a big storm was coming. He asked Rudolph to guide his sleigh with his bright nose. Rudolph was so happy to help!
With Rudolph leading the way, Santa delivered toys to all the children, including the toys from the Island of Misfit Toys. Everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and Rudolph became the most famous reindeer of all!

Reindeer Nose Craft: Let’s make our own Rudolph noses! Use a red pom-pom or a small red ball and attach it to a string or elastic band to wear around your nose. Once everyone has their Rudolph nose, pretend to be reindeer and guide an imaginary sleigh around the classroom. Think about how Rudolph felt when he used his nose to help Santa. How does it feel to be special and help others?
Story Time Role Play: Choose different characters from the story, like Rudolph, Hermie, or Santa, and act out your favorite scenes. How would you feel if you were Rudolph when the other reindeer laughed at him? What would you say to make him feel better? This activity helps us understand how our words and actions can make others feel happy or sad.
Observation Walk: Go on a short walk around your school or home and look for things that are different or unique, just like Rudolph’s nose. It could be a colorful flower, a funny-shaped cloud, or a unique rock. Share what you find with your friends or family. Discuss why being different can be special and how these differences make the world more interesting.

Today’s book is “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” the classic story. Let’s get started!
Way up at the North Pole, there’s a special place called Christmas Town. Families of reindeer live in cozy caves, elves work at the factory making presents for children, and in Santa’s Castle, Mrs. Claus makes sure he eats plenty so his holiday suit fits just right. Everyone loves living in Christmas Town, except for one year when the weather was so bad that Christmas was almost canceled.
Welcome to Christmas Town! One spring, Donner, the lead reindeer who helped pull Santa’s sleigh, became a proud papa. He and his wife named their son Rudolph. Soon after little Rudolph was born, his tiny red nose began to glow bright. Santa exclaimed, “If Rudolph’s nose continues to glow, he will never make the sleigh team when he grows up.”
Donner taught Rudolph all the things a young reindeer needed to know, especially to beware of the Abominable Snow Monster. All the while, he kept Rudolph’s nose covered, hoping it would someday stop glowing.
As the months went by, the elves were busy making Christmas toys. All the elves loved their work, except for one named Hermie, who dreamed of becoming a dentist. This made him feel like a misfit among his fellow elves. Rudolph felt like a misfit too; he didn’t like the nose cover he had to wear. Without it, his nose glowed as brightly as ever, but Donner was determined to keep that a secret.
On the day of the annual reindeer games, Rudolph met Clarice, a pretty young doe. When Clarice said she liked him, Rudolph was so excited that he flew through the air with joy. Flying was exactly what Comet, the coach, was trying to teach the young reindeer. Everyone was amazed by Rudolph until his nose cover fell off.
All the other reindeer, except for Clarice, laughed at Rudolph and called him names. Comet said from now on, they wouldn’t let Rudolph join in any reindeer games. Feeling sad, Rudolph went off by himself. At the toy factory, Hermie was having trouble too. He skipped elf practice to fix dolls’ teeth, thinking he might fit in better that way. When the foreman found out, he yelled at him for not following the rules.
Hermie just couldn’t fit in, so he ran away. Before long, Hermie and Rudolph met and shared their stories. They decided to go off into the world together.
On their first day, they heard the terrible roar of the Abominable Snow Monster. They tried to stay far ahead of the monster and soon met Yukon Cornelius and his dog sled team. Yukon was looking for gold but found Rudolph and Hermie instead. Then, Rudolph’s glowing nose led the Abominable Snow Monster right to them. Thanks to Yukon’s quick thinking, they escaped on an ice floe, which carried them to the Island of Misfit Toys, a place filled with odd toys.
The ruler of the island, King Moonracer, said a toy is never truly happy until it is loved by a child. Rudolph promised the king that someday he would tell Santa about all these homeless toys, hoping Santa would include them in his Christmas deliveries.
Rudolph asked King Moonracer if he and his friends could stay on the Island of Misfit Toys, but the king said it was only for misfit toys. He let the friends rest overnight before they moved on. When Hermie and Yukon were asleep, Rudolph slipped away, knowing that his nose would put them in danger with the Abominable Snow Monster. He didn’t want to be the cause of any harm to his friends.
The Abominable Snow Monster did indeed find Rudolph because of his glowing nose and chased him everywhere. During that time, Rudolph grew up and realized it was time to go home. He missed his parents and Clarice, who had been looking for him ever since he left.
It was now two days before Christmas Eve, and Santa told Rudolph that without Donner, he’d never be able to get his sleigh off the ground. Determined to find his parents and Clarice, Rudolph made his way to the cave of the Abominable Snow Monster despite the storm. He found Clarice in the monster’s clutches and cried, “Put her down!”
The Abominable Snow Monster chased Rudolph, but Hermie, who had been searching for his friend, arrived just in time. They lured the monster outside and knocked him out with a big rock. Hermie removed all of the monster’s teeth, finally getting to be a dentist.
When the Abominable Snow Monster woke up, Yukon pushed him back until the monster, Yukon, and his dogs all slipped over the edge of a cliff. Rudolph and his friends were heartbroken when they returned to Christmas Town. When the others heard the entire story, they realized that those who are different are important too. They all apologized to Rudolph and Hermie, and the foreman even told Hermie he could open his own dentist office. Santa agreed to find homes for the misfit toys.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. It was Yukon, his dogs, and the Abominable Snow Monster. Even though they had all gone over the cliff, the monster was able to bounce and land safely. Now, the monster was no longer mean; he even got a job placing the star on top of the Christmas tree. Everyone cheered!
The next day was Christmas Eve, but the weather was so bad that Santa could not fly his sleigh safely. He reluctantly started to tell everyone that Christmas was going to be canceled for the first time ever. But then he realized there was a way through the storm after all.
“Rudolph,” Santa said, “you and that wonderful nose of yours can cut through the murkiest storm. With your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?” Rudolph replied, “It will be an honor, sir.”
The sleigh was loaded, the reindeer got into place, and Santa climbed aboard. Rudolph took the lead, and the sleigh took off. Santa’s first stop was the Island of Misfit Toys. Everyone had an extra Merry Christmas that year, and Rudolph went down in history as the greatest reindeer of all time.
