Let’s Learn Some Fun Words!

Hey there, little friend! Are you ready to have some fun with words? Today, we’re going to learn some special words that we see and use a lot. These words are called “sight words.” Let’s get started!

Our Special Words

Here are the words we’re going to practice today:

  • Use
  • You’re
  • Words
  • Like
  • This

What Do These Words Mean?

Let’s talk about what each word means:

Use

When we say “use,” it means we are doing something with an object. For example, you can use a crayon to draw a picture!

You’re

“You’re” is a short way of saying “you are.” For example, you’re a great friend!

Words

“Words” are what we use to talk and write. We put words together to make sentences!

Like

When we say “like,” it means we enjoy something. For example, I like playing with toys!

This

“This” is used to talk about something close to us. For example, this is my favorite book!

New

“New” means something we haven’t seen or used before. For example, I got a new toy yesterday!

Keep Learning and Having Fun!

Learning sight words is so much fun, and it helps us read and write better. Keep practicing these words, and soon you’ll be a word expert!

Thanks for learning with me today. Remember, you can always come back and practice more. Have a wonderful day!

  1. Can you think of a time when you used something to make or do something fun? What did you use, and what did you make or do?
  2. What is something new that you have learned or seen recently? How did it make you feel to discover something new?
  3. Can you share a sentence using one of the words we learned today? Maybe you can use the word “like” to tell us about something you enjoy!
  1. Word Hunt Adventure: Go on a word hunt around your home or classroom! Look for objects that you can use, things you like, or something new you’ve never seen before. Can you find something that fits each word? Share what you find with a friend or family member and use the words in a sentence!

  2. Create a Word Story: Use the special words to create a short story. Draw pictures to go along with your story. For example, you might draw a picture of a new toy and write, “This is my new toy. You’re going to like it!” Share your story with the class or a family member.

  3. Word Match Game: Make a set of cards with the special words on them. Mix them up and place them face down. Take turns flipping over two cards at a time, trying to find a match. When you find a match, say a sentence using that word. For example, if you find “use,” you might say, “I use a pencil to write.”
