The lesson emphasizes hands-on practice to reinforce color recognition and understanding.
  1. What are some things you see that are red?
  2. Can you name something that is blue?
  3. What color is a banana?

Learning Colors: A Fun Activity

Colors are beautiful and fun to learn! Let’s practice naming some common colors together.

The Color Red

This is the color red. Look around, and you might see many things that are red, like apples or fire trucks. Both of these things are red!

The Color Blue

Next, we have the color blue. The sky and the ocean are great examples of things that are blue. Both of these things are blue!

The Color Yellow

Now, let’s look at the color yellow. Bananas and the sun are often yellow. Both of these things are yellow!

Color Matching Activity

Let’s have some fun with a color-matching activity. We will put red stickers on the red easel, blue stickers on the blue easel, and yellow stickers on the yellow easel. This helps us remember which colors go together.

Wonderful work! Keep practicing, and soon you’ll be a color expert!

  • What are some of your favorite things that are red, blue, or yellow? Can you think of something in your home or outside that matches these colors?
  • Why do you think colors are important in our world? How do they help us in our daily lives?
  • Imagine if the world had no colors. How would that make you feel? What would be different in your day-to-day activities?
  1. Color Scavenger Hunt: Go on a color scavenger hunt around your home or classroom! Find three items for each color: red, blue, and yellow. Once you’ve found them, share with a friend or family member why you think each item matches the color. This will help you see how colors are all around us!

  2. Color Mixing Experiment: Let’s explore what happens when we mix colors! Using safe, washable paints, try mixing red and blue to see what new color you can create. What happens when you mix blue and yellow? How about red and yellow? Share your discoveries and see if you can find examples of these new colors in your environment.

  3. Color Story Time: Create a short story or draw a picture using only the colors red, blue, and yellow. Think about what characters or objects you can include that are these colors. Share your story or picture with someone and explain why you chose those colors for your creation.
