Welcome to the Restaurant Adventure! ????️

Hello friends! Today, we’re going on a fun trip to a restaurant. Are you ready to learn some new words? Let’s get started!

Starter

Before we eat the big meal, we have something called a starter. Starters are small dishes that we eat first. They are usually light, and sometimes we share them with our friends or family. Can you say it with me? Starter!

Main Course

Next comes the main course. This is the biggest part of the meal, like a yummy piece of fish or meat. It’s the main event of our meal! Let’s say it together: Main course!

Dessert

Now for the sweetest part, the dessert! Desserts are the last thing we eat, and they are usually sweet and delicious. What’s your favorite dessert? Say it with me: Dessert!

Check

After we finish eating, we ask for the check. The check is a piece of paper that tells us what we ate and how much it costs. Let’s say it: Check!

Pay

Before we leave the restaurant, we need to pay for our meal. Paying means giving money for the food we enjoyed. Can you say it with me? Pay!

Tip

We can also leave a tip for the waiters. A tip is a little extra money to say thank you for their help. Let’s say it together: Tip!

Takeout

Sometimes, we want to eat our food somewhere else. That’s when we order takeout. Takeout is food we can take home or to a picnic. Say it with me: Takeout!

Let’s Review!

Can you remember all the new words we learned today? Let’s go over them: starter, main course, dessert, check, pay, tip, takeout. Great job!

Thank you, Chef, for having us at your restaurant. We had so much fun! See you next time!

We’ve learned a lot today! Did you know there are many more fun videos to watch? You can learn even more by watching them. Have fun learning!

  • What is your favorite part of going to a restaurant, and why do you like it so much?
  • Can you think of a time when you shared a starter or dessert with your family or friends? What was it, and how did it make you feel?
  • If you could create your own restaurant, what kind of food would you serve, and what would you name it?
  1. Restaurant Role Play: Gather some friends or family members and set up a pretend restaurant at home. You can use toy food or draw pictures of food items. Take turns being the waiter, chef, and customer. Practice using the new words you learned: starter, main course, dessert, check, pay, tip, and takeout. How does it feel to be in each role?

  2. Create a Menu: Design your own restaurant menu using paper and crayons or markers. Include a starter, main course, and dessert. Think about what dishes you would like to serve. Share your menu with a friend or family member and ask them what they would like to order. Can you remember to use the new words when talking about your menu?

  3. Observation Walk: Next time you visit a real restaurant, pay close attention to the process. Notice when the starter, main course, and dessert are served. Watch how the check is brought to the table and how payment is made. Did you see anyone leave a tip? Talk about what you observed with your family. How is it similar or different from your pretend restaurant?

Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:
