  1. What did we learn about cleaning up after playing in the sandbox?
  2. Why is it important to help the Earth and keep the ocean clean?
  3. How can we work together to make our playground a better place?

Welcome to the Sandbox Fun!

Hello, everyone! Are you ready to have fun with your friends? Let’s take off our shoes and socks and jump into the sandbox for some playtime!

Party Time!

Wow, what a great party! We have yummy food, cool music, and all our best friends here. But before we go home, we need to clean up so the next kids can have fun too!

Cleaning Up Together

Let’s look around the sandbox and everywhere we played. We need to find all the things we used and clean up. The more we look, the more we find, and the cleaner our sandbox will be!

Helping the Earth

Should we throw everything in the garbage? Not yet! If we’re careful, we can help the Earth and the ocean. Did you know that garbage can end up in the ocean and hurt sea animals?

Why the Ocean is Important

The ocean has most of the Earth’s water. Clean water gives us air, medicine, food, and fun! But if garbage gets in the ocean, it can hurt sea animals and make the water dirty.

Working Together

We can clean up if we work together! First, let’s keep things we can use again. The best way to take care of trash is not to make any trash!

Look at those three bins over there. Things like sticks, leaves, and fruit peels go in the green bin. These can turn into soil to help new plants grow!

Recycling is Cool!

Things like glass, paper, plastic, and metal go in the blue bin. These can be recycled, which means they can be used again and again!

Finally, whatever is left goes in the black bin.

Great Job, Friends!

I’m so proud of you! You made the sandbox even cleaner than before. Let’s look around and see if there’s any more trash to pick up. Cleaning can be fun!

Let’s All Help

We can’t clean it up alone. Let’s ask our neighbors, friends, and family to help too. It doesn’t matter if the trash is ours or not. We all love our Earth, and if we all help, we can keep it beautiful!

Stay curious and keep helping the Earth!

  1. What are some fun things you like to do in a sandbox or at a playground? Can you think of ways to make sure everyone has fun and stays safe while playing?
  2. Why do you think it’s important to clean up after playing outside? Have you ever helped clean up a park or playground? How did it make you feel?
  3. Can you think of other ways to help the Earth, like recycling or reusing things at home? What are some things you and your family do to take care of the environment?
  1. Sorting Game: Create a simple sorting game at home. Gather some clean items like paper, plastic bottles, leaves, and fruit peels. Ask your child to sort these items into three different boxes labeled “Recycle,” “Compost,” and “Trash.” Discuss why each item belongs in its box and how it helps the Earth.

  2. Nature Walk: Take a walk in your neighborhood or a nearby park. Bring a small bag to collect any litter you find. As you walk, talk about how picking up trash helps animals and keeps our environment clean. Encourage your child to notice the different types of plants and animals they see and how a clean environment helps them thrive.

  3. Creative Crafting: Use recyclable materials like paper rolls, plastic bottles, and cardboard to create a fun art project. Encourage your child to think of creative ways to reuse these items instead of throwing them away. This activity helps them understand the importance of recycling and reusing materials.

[Music]

Welcome everyone! It’s great to play with all your best friends. Come on in, take off your shoes and socks—it’s time for fun in the sandbox!

Thank you! What a fun party! Great food, great music, and all my best friends.

Before we go home, we need to remember to clean up so it’s just as fun for the next kids as it was for us. You’re right, but how do we do that? First, we have to check around the whole sandbox and everywhere we played. Let’s not forget a single place! The more we look, the more we find, and the cleaner we keep our precious sandbox.

Maybe I can help! I call it motivational drumming.

Should we throw all this stuff in the garbage? Wait, not quite yet. Throwing everything away will clean up the sandbox, but if we’re extra careful, we’ll help the environment both on land and in the ocean.

Garbage that isn’t cleaned up can wash into gutters and drain out to the ocean, which can harm lots of sea life.

The ocean has almost all the Earth’s water. Did you know that?

With clean water, we get air, medicine, food, and fun! But with garbage leaking into the ocean, it can tangle up sea life and pollute the water.

That sounds really important. How do we do it? It’s easy if we work together! First, anything that we can reuse, we put aside and take home. The best way to take care of trash is not to make any trash.

I can use these bottles for a sculpture I’m making!

Now, see those three bins over there? Anything for the Earth, like sticks, leaves, and fruit peels, goes into the green bin.

Why the green bin? Because things that come from the Earth can be composted, meaning they can go back into the soil and help new plants grow.

Now, everything that can be recycled goes into the blue bins.

What’s recycled? Anything made of glass, paper, plastic, or different types of metal can be melted down and used again, so we don’t use up the Earth’s precious resources.

Finally, whatever garbage is left goes into the black bins.

I’m so proud of all of you! You really left the sandbox even cleaner than when you found it.

Great job, everybody!

Look around and tell me what you see. There’s a little trash over by that tree. Let’s head over and grab it fast! Sometimes cleanup can be a blast!

We can’t clean it up alone; it’s our responsibility. Grab neighbors, friends, and family!

It doesn’t really matter if it’s yours. All of us on Earth really love our outdoors, and if we all do our best to clean up, then we’re caring for our beautiful land.

That’s right! We can clean it up; it’s our responsibility.
