Discussion Questions

  • What would you put in a magic potion if you were a witch or wizard? Why do you think those ingredients would be special?
  • Have you ever dressed up for Halloween? What was your favorite costume, and why did you choose it?
  • If you could create your own Halloween adventure, what fun activities or characters would you include? How would you make it exciting for your friends?

Lesson Activities

  1. Magic Potion Creation: Let’s make our own magic potion like the itsy bitsy witch! Gather some safe ingredients like water, food coloring, and glitter. Mix them together in a clear jar and watch the magic happen! Ask yourself: What colors can you create? What happens when you mix different colors together?

  2. Monster Costume Parade: Dress up as your favorite Halloween character from the story, like a pirate, vampire, or ballerina. Have a mini parade at home or in the classroom. Think about: What makes your costume special? How does it feel to pretend to be someone else?

  3. Pumpkin Hunt Adventure: Just like the witch’s missing pumpkins, hide some small toy pumpkins or orange objects around the room or yard. Go on a pumpkin hunt to find them all! Consider: How many pumpkins can you find? Can you count them and sort them by size?
