In a happy kitchen, Tamir and Cookie Monster are having a fun time baking cookies. While they bake, they also learn about something very important: fairness.
Tamir is surprised to see how good Cookie Monster is at baking. Cookie Monster finds baking to be a relaxing and fun activity. As they make their cookies, they are both excited and happy.
Tamir introduces a special word that starts with the letter “F.” With a fun drum roll, they reveal that today’s word is “fairness.”
Fairness means making sure everyone gets what they need. Cookie Monster jokingly asks for a cookie, showing how important it is to share with others.
Tamir and Cookie Monster talk about how they can be fair in what they do. They decide that when they play soccer later, they should make sure everyone gets a turn and invite others to join in the fun.
Before they go outside to play, they know they need to clean up. Cookie Monster happily offers to help, showing fairness by doing his part in the cleanup.
As they get ready to play soccer, Cookie Monster thinks he should be the captain because he is a good player. Tamir playfully disagrees, and they have a fun chat about Cookie Monster’s soccer skills.
Through baking and having fun, Tamir and Cookie Monster teach us about fairness. Their playful interactions show us how important it is to share, work together, and learn while having fun.
Cookie Sharing Game: Gather some toy cookies or use paper cutouts to represent cookies. Sit in a circle with your friends or family. Take turns distributing the cookies to everyone in the circle. Try to make sure each person gets an equal number of cookies. After everyone has their cookies, discuss how it felt to share and make sure everyone had the same amount. Was it easy or hard to be fair? Why is it important to share equally?
Fairness in Action: Think about a time when you played a game with your friends. How did you make sure everyone had a turn? Draw a picture of you and your friends playing a game and write a sentence about how you made sure everyone was included. Share your drawing with your class or family and talk about why fairness is important when playing games.
Fairness Role Play: With a friend or family member, act out a scenario where you have to decide how to share something, like toys or snacks. One person can pretend to be Cookie Monster, and the other can be Tamir. Practice using kind words and actions to make sure everyone gets what they need. After the role play, talk about how it felt to be fair and what you learned from the activity.
