In this lesson, we explore the vibrant world of colors, highlighting their unique characteristics and the feelings they evoke. Each color, from the cheerful yellow to the calming blue, is associated with familiar objects and experiences, encouraging students to appreciate the beauty and significance of colors in their lives. The lesson concludes by inviting students to share their favorite colors, reinforcing the idea that every color is special.
  1. What is your favorite color from the story?
  2. Can you think of something that is red?
  3. What color do you see in the sky on a sunny day?

Let’s Learn About Colors!

Colors, colors everywhere! Let’s have fun learning about them together!

Red

Red is a bright and happy color. Imagine a big red fire truck zooming by! Or think about a pretty red rose in a garden. Isn’t red wonderful?

Blue

Blue is the color of the sky on a sunny day. It’s also the color of the water in the ocean. Blue is calm and cool, just like a gentle breeze.

Yellow

Yellow is a cheerful color. Bananas are yellow, and so are daisies! Yellow makes everything feel sunny and bright.

Colors, colors everywhere! Let’s keep learning about them!

Green

Green is the color of grass and leaves. Frogs are green too! Green is fresh and full of life, just like a spring day.

Purple

Purple is a magical color. Think about a purple flower or a purple balloon floating in the air. Purple is fun and special!

Orange

Orange is the color of pumpkins. It’s warm and cozy, like a sunset. Orange makes you feel happy and excited!

Colors, colors everywhere! Let’s sign the colors together!

What’s Your Favorite Color?

My favorite color is yellow. What about you? Do you like red, blue, green, purple, or orange? Every color is special in its own way!

  • What is your favorite color, and why do you like it so much? Can you think of something special that is your favorite color?
  • Can you find something in the room that is red, blue, or yellow? How does it make you feel when you look at it?
  • If you could paint a picture using only three colors, which ones would you choose and what would you paint? Why?
  1. Color Hunt: Go on a color hunt around your home or classroom! Find objects that match each color we learned about: red, blue, yellow, green, purple, and orange. Once you’ve found them, try to arrange them in a rainbow pattern. Can you find something for every color?

  2. Color Mixing Magic: Let’s explore how colors mix! Use watercolors or colored markers to mix primary colors (red, blue, yellow) and discover what new colors you can create. What happens when you mix red and blue? How about yellow and blue? Try mixing different combinations and see what magical colors appear!

  3. Color Storytime: Imagine a story where each character is a different color. What adventures do they go on? How do their colors help them in the story? Draw a picture of your favorite part of the story and share it with a friend or family member. What color would you be if you were in the story?
