Let’s Make Sushi Together!

Getting Ready to Cook

Today, we are going to have some fun in the kitchen! Do you know what we are making? Sushi! It’s a yummy food from Japan. Are you excited? Let’s get started!

What We Need

To make our sushi, we need some special ingredients. We have cucumbers, carrots, eggs, seaweed, and rice. Doesn’t that sound delicious?

Making Sushi Rolls

First, we need to cook the rice. Mommy adds some vinegar, salt, and sugar to make it taste sweet and sour. Yum! Now, we can start making our sushi rolls.

Rolling the Sushi

We take a piece of seaweed and put some rice on it. Then, we add eggs, ham, carrots, cucumbers, and a little bit of mayo. Roll it up tight, and our sushi is ready!

Time to Eat!

Wow, the sushi smells so good! Mommy and I made yummy sushi rolls, and now it’s time to eat. Did you know that sushi is very popular in Japan? It’s true!

Visiting a Sushi Restaurant

Guess what? A new sushi restaurant opened nearby. Let’s go check it out! Inside, there’s a conveyor belt with lots of colorful sushi. It’s like a sushi train!

Choosing Our Sushi

We see yellow sushi and green sushi going around and around. It’s so much fun to watch! Let’s pick some to try. Yum, they taste amazing!

Making Special Sushi

Mommy says we can make special sushi to add to our menu. Let’s take a picture of our yummy creations. Great job, everyone!

All Done!

We had so much fun making and eating sushi today. Maybe next time, we can try making different kinds of sushi. Until then, enjoy your delicious sushi!

  • Have you ever tried making food with your family or friends? What did you make, and how did it turn out?
  • What other foods do you know that come from different countries? Can you think of any that you would like to try making at home?
  • If you could create your own special sushi roll, what ingredients would you put inside? Why do you think those ingredients would taste good together?
  1. Sushi Ingredient Hunt: Go on a fun scavenger hunt in your kitchen or at the grocery store with a grown-up. Can you find all the ingredients we need to make sushi? Look for cucumbers, carrots, eggs, seaweed, and rice. Once you find them, talk about what each ingredient looks like, feels like, and how it might taste. Which one is your favorite?

  2. Make Your Own Sushi Art: Use colored paper, crayons, or markers to create your own sushi art. Draw a big piece of seaweed and fill it with your favorite ingredients. Maybe you want to add some new ones like strawberries or cheese! Share your sushi art with your friends and family and explain why you chose those ingredients.

  3. Sushi Taste Test: If you visit a sushi restaurant or make sushi at home, try tasting different kinds of sushi. Close your eyes and guess what ingredients are inside each roll. Which one is the sweetest? Which one is the crunchiest? Talk about your favorite sushi and why you like it.
