What Do Pets Do?

Some pets like to sit quietly, while others love to stay by your side. Some pets enjoy fetching toys, and some just want to play all day! Do you have a pet? What fun things does your pet like to do?

Different Kinds of Pets

Pets can be very different from each other. Some pets slither like snakes, and some bounce around like bunnies. Some pets run in circles, and others make funny noises. Can you imagine a pet that squeaks or even talks?

How Pets Behave

Pets can do all sorts of things! Some like to nibble on their food, while others might drool a little. Some pets love to give hugs, and others enjoy cuddling up close. Do you have a pet that likes to cuddle?

Pets Are Special Friends

Pets come in all shapes and sizes. They can be fluffy, feathered, scaly, big, or small. No matter what they look like, pets can be our best friends. Is your pet your best friend? My pet was my best friend, and I loved him so much!

  • What kind of pet would you like to have, and why? Can you think of a name for your imaginary pet?
  • Have you ever seen a pet doing something funny or surprising? What was it, and how did it make you feel?
  • If you could talk to any pet from the story, which one would it be, and what would you ask them?
  1. Pet Observation Walk: Take a walk around your neighborhood or visit a local park with your family. Look for different pets you might see, like dogs, cats, or birds. Can you spot any unusual pets? Talk about what each pet is doing. Are they playing, resting, or exploring? Draw a picture of your favorite pet that you saw on your walk and share it with your class.

  2. Create Your Own Pet: Use clay, playdough, or craft materials to create your own imaginary pet. Think about what your pet might look like and what special things it can do. Does it have wings to fly, or maybe it can swim underwater? Share your creation with your classmates and tell them all about your pet’s unique abilities and how you would take care of it.

  3. Pet Behavior Role-Play: Choose a pet from the story and pretend to be that pet for a few minutes. How does it move? What sounds does it make? What does it like to do? Ask your friends or family to guess which pet you are pretending to be. Then, switch roles and let someone else be a pet for you to guess!
