Hello, friends! How are you today? Is it sunny where you are? Here, the sun is shining bright, and it’s a perfect day to play outside. I hope you had fun playing in the sunshine!
Today, we have a fun story called “Sparkle Kitty Versus the Sun” by Amy Coles. Are you ready to join Sparkle Kitty on an adventure?
One sunny day, Sparkle Kitty wanted to play outside. But oh no! The sunlight was too bright for Sparkle Kitty’s eyes. What could help? Sunglasses! Sparkle Kitty put on sunglasses and looked so cool!
Next, Sparkle Kitty felt the sun was hot on their head. What could help? A hat! Sparkle Kitty put on a hat and looked so stylish!
But wait! The sunlight could still hurt Sparkle Kitty’s skin. What could help? Sunscreen! Sparkle Kitty put sunscreen on their arms, legs, face, and even their tail. It tickled!
Now, Sparkle Kitty was ready to play outside safely. Sparkle Kitty drew pictures with chalk, chased mice, and made a flower crown. Remember, if you play outside, you might need more sunscreen!
At the end of the day, Sparkle Kitty took a bubble bath to wash off the sunscreen. Sparkle Kitty learned how to stay safe in the sun!
Now, let’s meet Rainbow and Panda Bear in “The Colors of Kindness.” Rainbow was feeling sad and gray. Panda Bear had some advice to help Rainbow feel colorful again!
Panda Bear said, “Be kind! Smile and share your toys. Be brave! Help a friend when they need you.”
“Be patient! Take a deep breath when you’re upset. Be proud! You’re a great friend,” said Panda Bear.
“Be honest! Telling the truth feels good. Be fair! Stand up for friends,” Panda Bear advised.
“Be funny! Make someone laugh. Be a friend! Play and have fun together,” said Panda Bear.
“You’re amazing and cool! Follow the colors of kindness, and your colors will shine bright,” Panda Bear cheered.
And that’s how Rainbow found their colors again!
Thank you for reading with us today! Remember to wear your sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen when you play outside. And always follow the colors of kindness. We hope to see you again soon. Take care and have fun!
Sun Safety Fashion Show: Organize a mini fashion show where you and your friends can dress up like Sparkle Kitty! Use sunglasses, hats, and pretend sunscreen to show how to stay safe in the sun. After the show, talk about why each item is important for sun safety. Can you think of other things that might help protect you from the sun?
Kindness Rainbow Craft: Create a rainbow using colored paper or crayons. For each color, think of a kind action you can do, just like Panda Bear taught Rainbow. For example, red can be for sharing, blue for helping a friend, and yellow for making someone laugh. Hang your rainbow in your room to remind you of the colors of kindness every day!
Sunshine and Shadows Exploration: Go outside on a sunny day and observe how the sun creates shadows. Try making shadow shapes with your hands or body. Discuss how the sun moves across the sky and how it changes the shadows. Why do you think Sparkle Kitty needed sunglasses and a hat? How do shadows help us stay cool?

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Storytime Family. How’s everyone doing? How’s the weather where you are? It’s very sunny here today! It was pretty cloudy this morning, but now it’s looking really good. I hope you’ve had your dose of sunshine and had lots of fun playing.
Hope you’re ready to read a book with us! Today we have “Sparkle Kitty Versus the Sun” by Amy Coles. Let’s check it out, shall we?
**Sparkle Kitty Versus the Sun**
The sun is shining, says Sparkle Kitty. I want to play outside in the sun! Oh no, says Sparkle Kitty, the sunlight is too bright! What can protect my eyes from the bright sunlight? wonders Sparkle Kitty.
Can something over here protect my eyes from the bright sunlight? Which of these items do you think can protect Sparkle Kitty? You are right! says Sparkle Kitty. The sunglasses will protect my eyes from the bright sunlight. I look delightful with the sunglasses on!
Sparkle Kitty opens the door to go outside. Oh no! My eyes are protected from the bright sunlight, but the sunlight on top of my head is hot! Sparkle Kitty knows just what to do. Sparkle Kitty found something to protect their head from the hot sunlight. What are they pointing at? That’s right! My hat will protect my head from the hot sunlight, says Sparkle Kitty. I look dashing!
Now Sparkle Kitty is really ready to go outside in the sun. With the sunglasses over the eyes and their hat on their head, Sparkle Kitty opens the door to go outside. Oh no! Sparkle Kitty’s eyes are protected, Sparkle Kitty’s head is protected, but the sunlight can still hurt the skin. Sparkle Kitty runs back inside. They have an idea!
Sparkle Kitty knows there is something in their backpack that can protect their skin from the sunlight. Can you find something to protect Sparkle Kitty’s skin from the sunlight? That’s right! The sunscreen will help protect Sparkle Kitty from getting a sunburn. Sparkle Kitty slathers the sunscreen on their arms and legs. That tickles on the feet and all over the tail! Remember to put sunscreen on your face and ears too, Sparkle Kitty!
I’m ready to go outside and play in the sun now, says Sparkle Kitty. I feel delightful, dashing, and safe! This time, Sparkle Kitty runs outside as fast as they can. Yippee! Even though it is bright and hot and sunny, Sparkle Kitty spends all day outside having fun.
Sparkle Kitty draws pictures with sidewalk chalk, chases mice through the tall grass, and makes a crown out of flowers and leaves. Some of the sunscreen wears off when Sparkle Kitty plays, so they need to put more on.
At the end of the day, when the sun goes away, Sparkle Kitty has a bubble bath to wash off the sunscreen. And tomorrow, when the sun returns, Sparkle Kitty will know how to be safe from sunburns.
The end.
And that was “Sparkle Kitty Versus the Sun.” I hope you’ve been putting on your sunglasses, sunscreen, and your cute little hat when you go to play outside! I love the sunshine, but we must protect ourselves from the harsh rays sometimes.

**The Colors of Kindness**
Hello, Rainbow Panda Bear said. Why do you look so sad today? Your smile is upside down, and there are tears in your eyes. Your beautiful colors are gray.
Rainbow forced a smile but was sad today. It was true. I’m a rainbow that gets brighter with kindness, and today my colors can’t shine through. I want my colors back, Panda Bear, but I need your help to find mine. What advice can you give me, Panda Bear? Can we make my colors shine?
Be kind and brave, be patient and proud, be honest and fair, said Bear. Be funny or silly, be friendly or warm, and as magnificent as you dare. Just follow the colors of kindness and let your true colors shine through. Follow what feels right, Panda Bear said. I believe in you!
Be kind! Smile at someone as you pass them by or share your toys with a friend. Use your big heart; be gentle and kind, and a smile is what you have in the end. Just follow the colors of kindness and let your true colors shine through. Follow what feels right, Panda Bear said. I believe in you!
Be brave! Being brave isn’t always easy. It’s okay to feel threatened or scared, but when your shining spirit helps a friend in need, it really proves that you care. Just follow the colors of kindness and let your true colors shine through. Follow what feels right, Panda Bear said. I believe in you!
Be patient! Being patient and calm is sometimes hard, especially when you’ve had a bad day. Take a deep breath and don’t get upset. Keep your mind at ease. Namaste. Just follow the colors of kindness and let your true colors shine through. Follow what feels right, Panda Bear said. I believe in you!
Be proud! Panda Bear said, I’m so proud of you, and you should be proud of you too! You’re helpful and kind, such a great friend, and your intentions are always so true. Just follow the colors of kindness and let your true colors shine through. Follow what feels right, Panda Bear said. I believe in you!
Be honest! Telling fibs to your family feels icky. Panda doesn’t like how it feels inside. It’s a much better feeling to be truthful and honest, the colorful rainbow replied. Just follow the colors of kindness and let your true colors shine through. Follow what feels right, Panda Bear said. I believe in you!
Be fair! Following the rules can be tricky. Sometimes it’s hard to remember to act fairly. Standing up for a friend when they are being treated unfairly proves how much you truly care. Just follow the colors of kindness and let your true colors shine through. Follow what feels right, Panda Bear said. I believe in you!
Be funny! Making someone laugh is easy. Hannah wanted Rainbow to see you can dance around all silly and make a funny face like me. Just follow the colors of kindness and let your true colors shine through. Follow what feels right, Panda Bear said. I believe in you!
Be a friend! It’s fun to play games with each other. I love to hear my friends laugh with glee. I love that they are always there when I need them. They’ve always got a friend in me. Just follow the colors of kindness and let your true colors shine through. Follow what feels right, Panda Bear said. I believe in you!
Be magnificent! You’re beautiful, impressive, astounding. You’re dazzling, spectacular, and cool. You follow the colors of kindness, and now you’re bright again, Rainbow! You rule!
