Welcome to Story Time!

Hello, friends! Today, we’re going to have a fun story time together. Are you ready? Let’s jump into the story of “Splat the Cat” by Rob Scotton!

Meet Splat the Cat

It was a bright morning, and Splat the Cat was wide awake. Today was a special day because it was his first day at cat school! But Splat was a little worried, and his tail was wiggling with nerves.

“Maybe if I hide, the day will go away,” thought Splat. But guess what? The day didn’t go away!

Getting Ready for School

Splat’s mom called, “Time to get up and get dressed!” Splat tried to think of reasons not to go. “I don’t have any clean socks, Mom. Maybe I should go to school tomorrow instead,” he said.

His mom smiled and said, “But you don’t wear socks, Splat!” She helped him get ready and made sure his hair was just right. “Don’t forget your lunchbox,” she reminded him.

Splat thought, “I need a friend today.” So, he put his pet mouse, Seymour, into his lunchbox. Isn’t that funny? A cat with a pet mouse!

Off to Cat School

It was time to go, but Splat had some funny problems. “The door won’t let me out, Mom! The gate won’t let go of my fingers!” he said. His mom suggested, “You can ride your bike if you like.” So, off he went!

Welcome to Cat School

At school, a big round cat named Mrs. Wimpy Dimple greeted him. “Welcome to cat school!” she said. Splat’s mom gave him a hug and said, “You’ll be fine. I’ll be back soon.”

Mrs. Wimpy Dimple introduced Splat to the class. “Everyone, this is Splat! Let’s welcome him!” she said. Then she taught them about how amazing cats are. “Cats are clever, cunning, and quick,” she explained.

Lunchtime Surprise

When it was lunchtime, Splat opened his lunchbox to see Seymour. The other cats were surprised to see a mouse and ran away! “Seymour, stop!” cried Splat.

Mrs. Wimpy Dimple said, “Enough!” and tried to open the milk cupboard, but it was stuck. Splat whispered to Seymour, and soon the door opened. “Yay! Milk time!” everyone cheered.

A Fun Day Ends

After a fun day, it was time to go home. Splat’s mom came to pick him up. “I made lots of friends, and I’m amazing!” Splat told her happily.

The next morning, Splat was excited for his second day at school. “I can’t wait to make a new pet sandwich!” he giggled.

I have a question: Ryan, are you allergic to cheese? I’ll answer the comments. Today’s book is “Splat the Cat” by Rob Scotton.

Let’s get started!

“Splat the Cat” by Rob Scotton. It was early in the morning, and Splat was wide awake. Today was his first day at cat school, and his tail wiggled wildly with worry. “If I hide from the day, maybe it’ll go away,” he thought. But it didn’t go away.

“Time to get up,” said his mom. “Time to get dressed,” said his mother. “I don’t have any clean socks, Mom. Maybe I should go to school tomorrow instead.”

“But you don’t wear socks,” said his mom. “Maybe I should go to school tomorrow instead.”

“I once had a bad hair day and stayed home from work.”

“I once had a bad mustache day and stayed home from my doctor’s appointment.”

“Oh, you should have gone to that.”

“Why? He’s not a mustache doctor.”

His mom combed his hair perfectly. “Good. Don’t forget your lunchbox,” said his mom.

“I’ll need a friend today,” thought Splat, and he dropped his pet mouse, Seymour, into his lunchbox. A cat having a pet mouse? That’s like me having a pet peanut butter and jelly sandwich!

“Oh, I do have a pet peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I named him Craig. Was he on the counter downstairs? Yeah, he’s wearing a name tag that says Craig.”

“I thought that was for me.”

“What? He’s your pet sandwich?”

“Time to go,” said his mom.

“The front door won’t let me out, Mom! The gate won’t let go of my fingers, Mom! The hippo’s walking in my way!”

“You can ride your bike if you like,” said Splat’s mom. So he did, but he didn’t say a single word.

“Welcome to cat school!” Then a big round cat said, “I’m Mrs. Wimpy Dimple, your teacher.”

Mom gave him a hug. “I’ll be back soon,” she said. “You’ll be fine.”

“Everyone, this is Splat! Let’s welcome him into our class,” said Mrs. Wimpy Dimple.

Mrs. Wimpy Dimple began, “Cats are amazing!” she said. “We’re clever, cunning, and quick.”

“Am I amazing too?”

“Yes, you are!” said Mrs. Wimpy Dimple.

“Cats climb trees, drink milk, and chase mice,” she continued.

“Why do we chase mice?”

“It’s what we do,” replied Mrs. Wimpy Dimple.

“Why?” asked Splat.

“Because why?”

Mrs. Wimpy Dimple sighed.

“Lunch time!” she announced. Splat opened his lunchbox, excited about Seymour.

The cats did what cats do. Seymour hid behind a glass pot, and when the cats saw his face through the glass, they screamed and ran away.

“Seymour, stop!” cried Splat.

They didn’t stop.

“Enough!” said Mrs. Wimpy Dimple.

“All right, but the door to the milk cupboard was stuck.”

“No milk today,” announced Mrs. Wimpy Dimple.

Splat whispered into Seymour’s ear. Seymour nodded, and then a moment later, the door swung open.

“Yeah! Ooh, I love milk!”

“Don’t worry, after I ate him, I washed it down with some milk.”

Mrs. Wimpy Dimple wrote again on the chalkboard: “Cats don’t chase mice.”

“Hey, kids!”

The class soon ended, and it was home time. Splat’s mom returned and gave him a hug.

“I’ve got lots of friends! Cats don’t chase mice! I’m amazing!”

It was early the next morning, and Splat was wide awake. Today was his second day at cat school, and his tail wiggled wildly with excitement.

“You know what I’m excited about? Making a new pet this time out of turkey and mustard!”

“What’s his name gonna be?”

“Craig Jr.!”

“Oh, I can’t wait to meet him!”
