Welcome to Craft Time!

Today, we’re going to have lots of fun making special Valentine’s Day cards! Let’s get started with some exciting crafts that you can make for someone you love.

Bear Card

To make a cute bear card, you will need some bright yellow and light yellow or white paper, a pencil, scissors, a glue stick, two googly eyes, a small red pom-pom, and a black marker.

First, fold the bright yellow paper and cut out a big circle shape. This will be the bear’s face. Then, cut out two big circles and two smaller circles for the bear’s ears. Glue the smaller circles inside the big ones to make the ears.

Next, glue the ears behind the bear’s face. Cut out a big circle from the light yellow paper for the bear’s snout and glue it on the face. Stick the googly eyes above the snout and the red pom-pom on the snout to make a nose. Draw a smile with the black marker. Write a sweet message inside, and your bear card is ready!

Heart Air Balloon Card

For this card, you’ll need white, pink, and red paper, scissors, a glue stick, a pencil, and a black marker.

Fold the pink paper to make the card. Cut out two red hearts, fold them, and glue them together in the middle of the card to make a 3D heart balloon.

Cut a small rectangle from white paper, fold it, and draw lines to make it look like an envelope. Glue a tiny red heart on it. Write a love note inside the envelope.

Draw two lines from the heart to the envelope to make balloon ropes. Glue the envelope at the bottom. Cut out two cloud shapes and draw happy faces on them. Glue them next to the balloon. Your heart air balloon card is ready to fly!

Chicky Valentine Card

You’ll need yellow, red, orange, and pink paper, scissors, a glue stick, and a black marker.

Fold the yellow paper and cut out a heart shape. Turn it upside down for the chick’s body. Cut a small red heart for the chick’s comb and glue it on top.

Cut two pink hearts for wings and glue them on the sides. Cut an orange heart for the beak and glue it in the middle. Draw eyes with the marker and cut out orange feet to glue at the bottom. Write a note inside, and your Chicky card is done!

Valentine’s Day Bunny

For this craft, you need white, pink, and red paper, two googly eyes, scissors, a glue stick, and a black marker.

Cut a white circle for the bunny’s head and two white ovals for ears. Glue smaller pink ovals inside the ears and attach them to the head.

Cut a red heart and glue it on the bunny’s face. Add a tiny heart for the nose and googly eyes. Draw a mouth with the marker. Cut white paws and glue them to the heart. Add feet at the bottom, and your bunny is ready to hop into someone’s heart!

Heart Flower Valentine Card

You’ll need white, red, yellow, purple, and green paper, scissors, a glue stick, and a green popsicle stick.

Fold white paper and cut a heart shape. Cut a smaller red heart and glue it inside. Add a yellow heart and a purple heart on top.

Glue the card to a green popsicle stick to make a flower stem. Cut green leaves and glue them on the stick. Write a lovely note inside, and your heart flower card is ready to give!

Have fun making these crafts and sharing them with someone special!

  • What was your favorite card to make, and why did you like it the most? Can you think of someone special you would like to give it to?
  • Have you ever received a handmade card or gift? How did it make you feel, and why do you think making something by hand can be special?
  • If you could create your own unique Valentine’s Day card, what would it look like? What materials would you use, and who would you give it to?
  1. Observation Walk: Take a walk around your neighborhood or garden and look for different shapes and colors. Can you find shapes that look like hearts, circles, or ovals? How many different colors can you spot? Discuss with a friend or family member how these shapes and colors remind you of the crafts you made.

  2. Shape Sorting Game: Gather different colored papers and cut out various shapes like hearts, circles, and rectangles. Mix them up and sort them into groups based on their shapes. Can you make a new card design using these shapes? Try creating a new animal or object using the sorted shapes and share your creation with the class.

  3. Craft Story Time: Choose one of the cards you made and create a short story about it. Who will receive your card, and why? What adventure might the bear, bunny, or chick go on? Share your story with a friend or family member and ask them to tell you a story about their favorite card.

Welcome to Kids Academy! In this Valentine’s Day craft lesson, we will be making a bear card. You will need bright yellow and light yellow or white cardstock paper, a pencil, scissors, a glue stick, two googly eyes, one small red pom-pom, and a black marker.

First, fold a bright yellow sheet of paper and cut out an incomplete circle to create the base of the card. Cut out two circles from the same bright yellow paper and two smaller ones from light yellow or white paper to make the bear’s ears. Next, cut out a larger circle for the bear’s snout and glue the two smaller circles inside the larger ones to form the ears.

Now, glue the ears behind the corners of the card’s folded edge. Then, glue the larger light yellow circle onto the card to create the bear’s snout. Attach the googly eyes above the snout, and glue the red pom-pom onto the top half of the snout to make a cute nose. For the bear’s mouth, use a black marker to draw two downward lines from the pom-pom. Finally, write a sweet message inside the card. Your bear card is now ready to bring love and joy to your loved ones!

Next, let’s make a heart air balloon card. You will need white, pink, and red cardstock paper, scissors, a glue stick, a pencil, and a black marker. First, fold a sheet of pink paper in half to create the base of your card. Cut out two identical hearts from the red cardstock paper, fold each heart in half, and glue them side by side in the center of the card to form a 3D heart-shaped balloon.

Cut out a rectangle from the white paper and fold it in half to create a small card that opens upward. Cut out a tiny heart from the red cardstock paper and glue it in the center of the small card. Use a pencil to draw lines on the rectangle to make it look like an envelope sealed with a heart shape. Write a short love note inside the envelope, such as “Happy Valentine’s Day.”

Using a marker, draw two lines downwards from the 3D heart to create the balloon’s ropes. Glue the envelope onto the ends of the ropes to make the basket of your heart air balloon, ensuring the folded edge is facing upwards. Cut out two cloud shapes from the white cardstock and draw cute happy faces on them with a marker. Glue the clouds next to the hot air balloon to create the illusion that it is floating in the sky. Your special heart air balloon card is ready to be filled with a loving message for someone you care about!

Now, let’s create a Chicky Valentine card. You will need yellow, red, orange, and pink cardstock paper, scissors, a glue stick, and a black marker. First, fold the yellow paper and cut out a heart shape with a folded edge along one side. Place the heart card upside down to form the chick’s body. Cut out a small heart shape from the red cardstock paper and glue it behind the pointy top of the yellow heart to create the chick’s comb.

To make the wings, fold the pink cardstock paper and cut out two identical heart shapes. Apply glue on the pointy half of each heart and stick them behind the sides of the base card with the curvy sides facing out. Cut out a heart shape from the orange cardstock paper and glue it in the center of the chick’s body to create the beak. Use the black marker to draw two dots for the chick’s eyes, and cut out two small feet from the orange paper to glue behind the bottom curves of the card. Now you have a cute little Chicky card, and all that’s left to do is write a note for your loved one!

Next, we will make a Valentine’s Day bunny craft. You will need white, pink, and red cardstock paper, two googly eyes, scissors, a glue stick, and a black marker. First, cut out the following shapes: a white circle, two white ovals, and two smaller pink ovals. Glue the pink ovals inside the white ones to create the bunny’s ears. Glue each of the ears behind the circle to form the head.

Cut out a heart shape from the red cardstock paper and glue it on the bottom third of the bunny’s head. Now, cut out a tiny heart and glue it to the center of the bunny’s face to make its cute little nose. Attach the googly eyes, and using a black marker, draw two tiny J-shaped lines to create the bunny’s mouth. Cut out two little tulip-like paws from the white cardstock paper and glue them onto the sides of the red heart to give the illusion that the bunny is holding the heart.

Next, cut out two egg shapes from white paper and glue them onto the bottom of the heart to form the bunny’s feet. Draw paw prints on the feet, and your cute little Valentine bunny is ready to be a perfect handmade gift for someone you care about!

Finally, let’s create a heart flower Valentine card. You will need white, red, yellow, purple, and green paper, scissors, a glue stick, and one green popsicle stick. First, fold a white paper and draw a heart shape from the topmost part, touching the folded side of the paper to create a card that opens upwards. Cut out a slightly smaller heart shape from the red paper and glue it inside the card. Cut out a smaller yellow heart and glue it on the top side of the card, followed by an even smaller purple heart glued in the middle of the yellow one.

Glue the card onto a green popsicle stick to create the base of our flower. Cut out two leaf shapes from the green paper and glue them onto the stick to form the leaves. Write a heartfelt note inside the card and give this pretty heart flower Valentine to the person you love!
