Stay Safe and Have Fun!

Hello, little friends! Today, we’re going to learn about staying safe while having fun. Let’s go on an adventure together!

Be Careful with Strangers

Imagine you’re at the park, and someone you don’t know asks you to go with them. What should you do? It’s important to say, “No, thank you!” and stay with your family or friends. Always tell a grown-up if someone you don’t know talks to you.

Playing Safely

When you’re playing, remember to be careful. If you’re in an elevator, don’t jump or press too many buttons. It’s not safe, and it can make the elevator stop. If you ever get stuck, stay calm and press the emergency button for help.

Watch Out for Dangers

Sometimes, things that look fun can be dangerous. For example, escalators are not for playing. Always hold onto the handrail and stand still. And remember, tools and plastic bags are not toys. They can be dangerous, so let’s play with our toys instead!

Eating Safely

When you’re hungry, make sure you know what you’re eating. Pills and coins are not food, and crayons are not candy. Always ask a grown-up if you’re not sure. Soon, you’ll have yummy pancakes to enjoy!

Stay Close to Family

If you’re out and about, stay close to your family. If you see something interesting, like a butterfly, make sure you don’t wander off. It’s important to stay where your family can see you.

Help is on the Way!

If someone gets hurt or feels sick, it’s important to call for help. You can call an ambulance, and they’ll come quickly to help. But remember, only call in a real emergency.

Have Fun, But Be Safe!

Playing is so much fun, but it’s important to be safe. Whether you’re on a slide or playing with toys, always be careful and listen to the grown-ups around you. Now, let’s go have some fun and stay safe!

Discussion Questions

  1. Can you think of a time when you met someone new? What did you do, and how did you feel? Why is it important to stay with your family or friends when meeting new people?
  2. What are some of your favorite games to play? How do you make sure you and your friends are playing safely? Can you think of any rules you follow to keep everyone safe?
  3. Have you ever seen something that looked fun but might not be safe to play with? What was it, and what did you do? Why is it important to ask a grown-up if you’re not sure about something?

Lesson Activities

  1. Role-Playing Safety Scenarios: Gather in small groups and take turns acting out different safety scenarios. For example, one child can pretend to be a stranger at the park, and another can practice saying, “No, thank you!” and going to tell a grown-up. This activity helps you practice what to do in real-life situations.

  2. Safety Scavenger Hunt: Go on a scavenger hunt around your classroom or home to find items that are safe to play with and those that are not. Make a list of the safe items, like toys, and the unsafe items, like tools or plastic bags. Discuss why some items are safe and others are not.

  3. Draw Your Safety Adventure: Draw a picture of a fun day at the park or playground, including all the ways you can stay safe. Think about staying close to family, playing safely, and watching out for dangers. Share your drawing with the class and explain the safety tips you included.
