Lesson Activities

  1. Explore Breathing Underwater: Just like Chief Shark, fish use gills to breathe underwater. Let’s pretend to be fish! Fill a bowl with water and use a straw to blow bubbles. Notice how the bubbles rise to the top. Discuss how fish breathe in water and how it’s different from how we breathe air. Can you think of other animals that live in water and how they might breathe?

  2. Super Sense of Smell: Chief Shark used his super sense of smell to find the thief. Let’s test our sense of smell! Gather a few items with different scents, like an orange, a flower, and a piece of chocolate. Close your eyes and have someone hold an item under your nose. Can you guess what it is just by smelling it? Talk about how different animals use their sense of smell to find food or stay safe.

  3. Magical Vending Machine Surprises: Just like Whiskers, let’s have some fun with surprises! Create a “mystery box” filled with small toys or treats. Take turns reaching in without looking and pulling out a surprise. Discuss how surprises can be fun and how they make us feel. Can you think of a time when you were surprised by something unexpected?
