Fun with Vending Machines

Hey there! Do you know what a vending machine is? It’s a big box that gives you drinks and snacks when you put a coin in and press a button. Imagine you really want a yummy cola. You find a vending machine with lots of drinks. You put in a coin, press the button, and wait for your drink to come out. It’s like magic!

Riding a Donkey

Have you ever seen a donkey? One day, someone rode a donkey to the market. They felt so proud! But oops, they fell off and got all muddy. Riding a donkey can be tricky, but it’s also a lot of fun!

Building Strong Bridges

Oh no! The bridge fell down! But don’t worry, the Monster Club is here to help. They build a strong iron bridge that won’t fall down. Hooray! Now everyone can cross safely. Remember, strong bridges are important!

Calling the Ambulance

If someone gets hurt, we call an ambulance to help them. The ambulance has big wheels and goes super fast to take people to the hospital. But remember, only call the ambulance when it’s a real emergency!

Stranger Danger

It’s important to stay safe. If a stranger asks you to go somewhere, say “No, no, no way!” Always stay with someone you know and trust. Safety first!

Fixing a Flat Tire

Uh-oh, a car has a flat tire! But don’t worry, the Work Bus is here with tools to fix it. They use a wrench to change the tire, and now the car is ready to go. Yay for teamwork!

Chasing the Bad Wolf

A bad wolf took some donuts! Let’s look left, right, up, and down to find him. We found the wolf, and now we can get the donuts back. Great job, everyone!

Counting Tigers

Let’s count tigers! Two tigers are running so fast. One has no ears, and one has no tail. Isn’t that strange? Counting is fun, and tigers are amazing!

Remember

Always have fun and stay safe. Whether you’re getting a drink from a vending machine, riding a donkey, or counting tigers, there’s always something new to learn and enjoy!

Discussion Questions

  • Have you ever used a vending machine before? What did you get from it, and how did it feel to see your snack or drink come out?
  • Can you think of a time when you had to fix something, like the Work Bus fixing a flat tire? What did you do, and who helped you?
  • Why do you think it’s important to stay safe around strangers, like saying “No, no, no way!”? Can you think of other ways to stay safe?

Lesson Activities

  1. Vending Machine Adventure: Create a pretend vending machine using a cardboard box. Let the children draw and color different snacks and drinks to “sell” in the machine. Use play coins to “buy” items from the vending machine. Ask the children to think about what happens inside the machine when they press a button. How does the machine know which item to give them?

  2. Bridge Building Challenge: Provide children with building blocks or materials like straws and tape. Challenge them to build a bridge that can hold a small toy car. Discuss what makes a bridge strong and why it’s important for bridges to be sturdy. Encourage them to test their bridges and see if they can improve their designs.

  3. Counting Safari: Organize a counting safari in the classroom or playground. Hide toy animals around the area and give each child a clipboard with a checklist. As they find each animal, they should count them and note any special features, like missing ears or tails. Discuss why counting is important and how it helps us understand the world around us.
