A computer is a special machine that helps us do many things. We can use it to look up information on the internet, do our homework, or even play fun video games.
The monitor is like a TV screen that shows us pictures and information from the computer.
The mouse is a tool we use to click on things and move the arrow on the computer screen.
The keyboard is what we use to type words and numbers. It has all the letters and numbers we need.
Speakers let us hear sounds and music from the computer. Isn’t it fun to listen to your favorite songs?
A webcam is a tiny camera that lets us see each other on the computer. We can use it to make video calls and see our friends and family.
The microphone helps us record our voice so others can hear us during video calls.
A laptop is a portable computer. It has everything you need: a screen, mouse, keyboard, speakers, webcam, and microphone all in one!
A printer takes words and pictures from the computer and puts them on paper. This is called printing.
A scanner helps us move documents and pictures from paper to the computer.
A flash drive is a small device we use to save files and move them from one computer to another. It’s also known as a pen drive.

Technology Scavenger Hunt: Look around your home or classroom and try to find as many items from the technology words list as you can. Once you find them, draw a picture of each item and write its name next to it. Share your drawings with a friend or family member and explain what each item does!
Create Your Own Computer: Use cardboard, paper, and other craft materials to make a model of a computer. Include a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and any other parts you remember. Label each part with its name and function. Show your model to your classmates and explain how each part works together.
Technology Word Story: Write a short story using at least five of the technology words you learned. Your story could be about a day in the life of a computer, an adventure with a flash drive, or anything else you can imagine. Share your story with the class and see if they can spot all the technology words you used!
