Welcome to Thanksgiving Fun!

Hello, friends! I’m Nancy, and I’m excited to tell you all about how my family celebrates Thanksgiving. It’s such a special time of the year, and I love it! In November, we get a few days off from school to spend with our family and friends. Just like many other families in America, we have a lot of fun and eat yummy food during these days.

Thanksgiving Morning Adventure

On Thanksgiving morning, my family and I start the day with a fun road race. We wake up early, put on our running shoes, and get ready to run! Many of our friends come to cheer us on, and some even dress up as turkeys for the race. Isn’t that funny?

Watching the Parade

After the race, we go home to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV. It’s so exciting! The parade has big, colorful floats that look amazing. There are lots of different animals and characters. My favorite float is a giant turkey! My sister loves watching the marching bands and dancers.

Family and Feast

Oh, I think our guests are here! Every year, our grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins come over to share a big Thanksgiving meal with us. We eat traditional foods like turkey with stuffing, cranberry sauce, and potatoes. Before we eat, we all share something we are thankful for, like the yummy food, our family, and our cozy home.

Delicious Desserts

After our big meal, we usually take a little rest. My uncle always falls asleep on the couch! Then it’s time for dessert. My grandmother makes the best pumpkin pie, and my mom makes a delicious apple pie. We all enjoy these sweet treats together and feel grateful for our family and the tasty food.

  • What is your favorite part of Thanksgiving, and why do you like it so much?
  • Have you ever watched a parade? What was it like, and what was your favorite part?
  • What are some things you are thankful for, and how do you show your gratitude to others?
  1. Thanksgiving Thankfulness Tree: Create a “Thankfulness Tree” at home. Gather some twigs and place them in a vase to make a tree. Cut out leaf shapes from colored paper. Each day, write something you are thankful for on a leaf and hang it on the tree. Watch your tree fill up with gratitude as Thanksgiving approaches!

  2. Parade Float Design: Imagine you are designing your own float for a Thanksgiving parade. Draw a picture of your float, thinking about what characters or animals you would include. Share your design with your family and explain why you chose those elements. Maybe even create a small model using craft materials!

  3. Family Recipe Book: Ask your family members about their favorite Thanksgiving foods. With the help of an adult, write down the recipes in a special notebook to create a family recipe book. You can draw pictures of the dishes or decorate the pages with stickers. This book can be a wonderful keepsake to use every Thanksgiving!
