Hello, friends! How are you today? Is the sun shining where you are? It’s a bright and sunny day here, and it’s perfect for playing outside. Are you ready to read a fun story with us?
We have a book called “That’s Not a Hat” by Marty. Let’s see what happens in the story!
Daddy says, “It’s time to do our errands. Put on your coats and your hats.” But oh no! Where is Daddy’s hat? We need to find a new one while we’re out.
We go to the greengrocer. Daddy sees something and says, “That’s not a hat. Those are bananas!” We put our groceries in the car and check our list. Where do we go next?
At the pet shop, Daddy points and says, “That’s not a hat. That’s an octopus!” We load up the car with our shopping and look at our list again. Where do we need to go next?
We visit the hardware store. Daddy laughs and says, “That’s not a hat. That’s a bucket!” We put our shopping in the car and check our list. Where do we go next?
At the garden center, Daddy smiles and says, “That’s not a hat. That’s a plant!” We load up the car with our shopping and check our list. Where do we need to go next?
We stop at the bakery. Daddy chuckles and says, “That’s not a hat. That’s a cake!” We put our shopping in the car.
Daddy says, “I know where we need to go to find a hat.” The children shout, “The haberdasher!” Yes, that’s where we find a hat!
Wasn’t that a fun and silly story? If you liked it, tell your friends and read more stories with us. Remember to read lots of books and have fun!
Thank you for joining us today! See you next time. Bye-bye!

Draw Your Own Story: Use your imagination to draw a picture of a place you might visit with Daddy. What funny object might Daddy mistake for a hat there? Draw the object on Daddy’s head and share your story with your friends or family. What other silly hats can you think of?
Everyday Hat Spotting: When you go out with your family, look around and see if you can spot things that could be mistaken for hats. Maybe a lamp post, a tree, or even a cloud! Point them out and say, “That’s not a hat!” Just like in the story. How many can you find in one day?
