Hello, friends! How are you today? Are you ready to have some fun and learn something new? Let’s sit down together and read a special book. Today, we have a story called “The Best Bad Day Ever” by Mariana Coo. Are you excited? Let’s begin!
Sometimes, when I wake up, I just know it’s going to be a bad day. The sky is cloudy, my cookies don’t have enough chocolate chips, and my milk glass isn’t full. Even my pet, Pepito, seems grumpy. Do you think Pepito looks grumpy too?
Outside, everyone else seems happy. Lucky them! Do you think everyone looks happy? I get to school late, but that’s okay. School looks fun, even if I don’t feel like doing much. Sometimes, things just don’t go right.
During circle time, the frog says “ribbit,” the chick says “beep beep,” the cat says “meow,” and the pig says “oink,” but Pepito stays quiet. Do you think someone might understand how I feel?
At playtime, we play hide and seek. They find us right away! Oh look, they found another grumpy friend! At snack time, I get a pear, but I really love apples. Someone found a friend, and at nap time, everyone is asleep except us.
The afternoon goes by quickly, and soon it’s time to go home.
“How was your day?”
“It was the best bad day ever!”
Sometimes, bad days can turn into the best days, don’t you think? Just when you least expect it!
Now, let’s read another story called “Kindness is My Superpower” by Alicia Ortego. Are you ready? Let’s go!
Hi, I’m Lucas, and this is my favorite toy, Teddy. I love sweets and cakes, but sometimes I make mistakes. Yesterday, I was in a bad mood and teased my friend Lisa about her glasses. It made her cry, and I felt bad.
When I got home, my mom looked sad. She told me that hurting people’s feelings is wrong and asked if I knew why being kind is important. I thought about it and wanted to learn how to be kind.
My mom said, “Kindness is when you say nice words. Be kind to your sister, friends, and even animals. Help others and do good deeds.”
That night, I decided to be kind. The next morning, I thanked my mom for breakfast, cleaned up my toys, and made my bed. On the bus, I invited a new boy to sit with me and helped him find his classroom.
I said good morning to my friends and shared my crayons. I apologized to Lisa for teasing her, and she smiled and forgave me. Being kind felt really good!
At school, I waited my turn on the slide and helped a boy find his ball. I even picked up trash that wasn’t mine. Kindness made my heart happy!
After school, I helped an old lady cross the street and shared a piece of cake with my neighbor. I realized that kindness is like magic!
Now, I don’t do mean things. I share my toys and help others. When you’re kind, kindness comes back to you!
And that’s the story of “Kindness is My Superpower.” Is kindness your superpower too? Have you been kind to your family and friends?
Kindness is magical! Thanks for reading with us today. We hope you enjoyed the stories. See you next time!
Bye-bye!
Kindness Jar: Create a “Kindness Jar” at home or in the classroom. Every time you do something kind, write it on a small piece of paper and put it in the jar. At the end of the week, read all the kind acts together. Discuss how each act made you feel and how it might have made others feel. Can you think of more ways to fill the jar with kindness?
Role-Playing Kindness: Pair up with a friend or family member and take turns acting out different scenarios where you can show kindness. For example, pretend one of you is feeling sad, and the other offers comforting words or a hug. After each role-play, talk about how kindness changed the situation. How did it feel to be kind or to receive kindness?
Kindness Scavenger Hunt: Go on a “Kindness Scavenger Hunt” around your home or school. Look for opportunities to be kind, like helping someone with their work, sharing a toy, or saying something nice. Make a list of all the kind things you did and share it with your class or family. What was your favorite act of kindness, and why?
Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Storytime Family. How are you today? I hope you’ve been having lots of fun learning new things at school. Have you had your snack? Are you ready to sit down and discover a new book with us? Today, we have a book called “The Best Bad Day Ever” by Mariana Coo. Are you ready? Let’s go!
**The Best Bad Day Ever**
I can tell from the minute I wake up that it’s going to be a bad day. First of all, it’s cloudy, there aren’t enough chocolate chips in my cookies, and my glass of milk is half empty. The water is ice cold, and even Pepito is in a bad mood today. Does he look like he’s in a bad mood?
Outside, everyone is happy. Lucky them! Do you think everyone looks happy? I arrive late to school, but it’s no big deal. I don’t feel like doing anything anyway, but school looks so fun, right? Even when I try to do something, nothing comes out right.
At circle time, the frog says “ribbit,” the chick says “beep beep,” the cat says “meow,” the pig says “oink,” but Pepito says nothing. I say no one understands me. Maybe someone does, right?
At playtime, we play hide and seek. I don’t know how, but they find us immediately. Ooh, look, he found another grouchypants! At snack time, I get a pear. I do not like pears, but I love apples. Someone found a friend, and at nap time, everyone is asleep except for us.
Together, the afternoon goes by too quickly, and the bell rings too soon.
“How was your day?”
“It was the best bad day ever!”
And that was the best bad day ever. You know how sometimes the bad days turn out to be the best days? Those days are the best, aren’t they? Just when you don’t expect it, right?

Today, we have a book called “Kindness is My Superpower” by Alicia Ortego. Let’s get started, shall we?
**Kindness is My Superpower**
I’m Lucas, just an ordinary boy, and this is Teddy, my favorite toy. I like to eat sweets, jellies, and cakes, but sometimes I make some mistakes. You see, yesterday I was in a very bad mood, so sadly, I did something extremely rude. I teased my friend Lisa for wearing glasses, and it made her cry for the rest of her classes.
When I got home, I was greeted by my mom. I was sad to see her face looking glum. “Honey, you made your friend Lisa cry. Hurting people’s feelings is wrong. Do you know why you should always be kind?” my dear mother said.
I knew I’d done wrong, so I bowed my head. “What does it mean to be kind?” I implored. Mom hugged me tightly, and when she did, my heart soared.
“Kindness is shown when you say a gentle word. Be kind to your sister and even a bird. You can be kind to someone who makes you mad. You can be kind to someone who is feeling sad. Be kind and respect those who are older than you, and show respect and kindness to younger ones too. Kindness is shown by helping someone in need, and kindness is shown when you do a good deed.”
I pondered her words and couldn’t sleep all night. I wanted to be kind and genuinely polite, so right then and there, without any warning, I decided to become very kind.
In the morning, the first thing I did when Mom made me breakfast was to tell her thank you. I changed out of my pajamas, warm, soft, and red. I put away my toys and made my own bed. On the bus, I behaved the best I could be. I even asked the new boy to sit next to me at school. I helped him find his classroom too; I knew it was the very least I could do.
I said good morning to all my friends, and I even shared my brand new crayons and pens. Then I saw Lisa; her eyes still looked sad. I approached her slowly, still feeling bad. “I’m sorry I teased you,” I said with a bent head. Lisa gave me a smile. “It’s okay,” she said.
I realized that kindness is really super cool! So I was kind when I got out of school. Outside, I waited my turn on the slide, and you know what? I felt good and happy inside. I was patient and kind, not angry at all, and I even found joy helping a boy find his ball. I picked up the rubbish even though it wasn’t mine. Kindness and doing good deeds made my heart shine.
I love going shopping with Mom to buy food. Holding open doors puts me in such a good mood! After we bought my favorite toy and a treat, Mom and I helped an old lady cross the street. I continued to be kind with joy and glee.
Watching Teddy fall asleep in front of the TV, he was sleeping on the sofa instead of his bed, so I covered him with a blanket and kissed his forehead. I helped my little sister tie her shoelace, and I was glad to see the big smile on her face.
Being kind is amazing for everyone’s sake, like giving your neighbor a yummy piece of cake. I’d like to help mine water his flowers. It really seems kindness has magical powers.
I no longer do mean things like before. I don’t tease others, and I don’t slam the door. I stopped being selfish, and I share all my toys. I don’t shout out loud or make much noise. Kindness is something anyone can learn. Give to others and ask nothing in return. Helping others is simply the best thing to do. When you are kind, kindness comes back to you.
And that was “Kindness is My Superpower.” Is kindness your superpower too? Have you been kind to your brother or sister and your parents?
