Tina’s Big Adventure

One day, Tina went exploring in the woods. She decided to try something new and started to climb a tree. Can you believe it? A cow climbing a tree! When she reached the top, she met a friendly dragon. They talked all afternoon about dreams and stories.

Tina’s Exciting News

Tina was so excited to tell her sisters about her new friend. But her sisters didn’t believe her. They said, “Dragons aren’t real, and cows can’t climb trees!”

The Search for Tina

The next morning, Tina was gone! Her sisters found a note that said, “Gone flying with the dragon of the woods.” They decided to find her and bring her back home. For the first time, they left the farm and went into the woods. It was so beautiful!

A Big Surprise

In the woods, the sisters saw something amazing. They saw Tina flying with the dragon! It seemed impossible, but it was true. Tina asked her sisters to join her, and they said, “Yes, why not?”

Anything is Possible!

  • What do you think made Tina want to climb the tree, even though cows usually don’t do that? Have you ever tried something new that others thought was unusual?
  • How do you think Tina felt when her sisters didn’t believe her story about the dragon? Can you remember a time when someone didn’t believe something you said? How did it make you feel?
  • Why do you think Tina’s sisters decided to join her and the dragon in the end? What does this tell us about trying new things and believing in the impossible?
  1. Tree Climbing Adventure: Just like Tina, let’s explore the idea of climbing! Find a safe place in your backyard or a park where you can climb a small hill or a playground structure. As you climb, think about how Tina felt when she climbed the tree. What do you see from up high? How does it feel to try something new?

  2. Draw Your Own Adventure: Imagine you are Tina the Cow. What other amazing adventures could you have? Draw a picture of yourself doing something that seems impossible, just like Tina did. Share your drawing with your friends or family and tell them about your adventure.

  3. Believe in the Impossible: Talk with a friend or family member about something you think is impossible. Then, think of ways you might be able to make it happen. Remember, just like Tina, anything is possible if you believe in yourself and try!

Hi there! Welcome to the Story Time Family. We are going to be reading “The Cow Who Climbed a Tree” by Gemma Marino. Let’s see what the story is all about!

[Applause]

The cow will climb a tree. Can cows climb trees? Can you climb trees? Tina was a very curious cow. She had a thirst for discovery, and her mind was full of wonderful ideas, all of which her sisters found very silly. They would say every time she told them her amazing ideas that they were impossible or ridiculous.

Her sisters were only interested in one thing: fresh and juicy grass. One day, when Tina was exploring the woods, she decided to try something new. She began to climb a tree. Up and up she went, and at the top, Tina couldn’t believe her eyes. Unlike the fierce dragons she had seen in her books, this one was friendly and vegetarian. All afternoon, it talked about wonderful dreams and incredible stories.

Tina couldn’t wait to tell her sisters about her new friend, but her sisters were not impressed. They said, “Dragons don’t exist. Cows can’t climb trees. That’s impossible!” And with that, they went to bed.

But the next morning, Tina was nowhere to be seen. Her sisters found a note: “Gone flying with the dragon of the woods.” Well, that was it! Tina’s imagination had gone too far. The sisters decided to go and find her and bring her home. For the first time, they ventured beyond the farm and into the woods. They had never imagined it would be so beautiful.

Then they came across something very strange. “Impossible!” they said. But the first cow began to climb, and one after another, up they went. The world beyond the fields was extraordinary. But where was Tina? Suddenly, the cows looked up. It was impossible, it was ridiculous, it was nonsense, but it was true—Tina was flying! And when she asked her sisters to join her, they said something they had never said before: “Yes, why not?”

After that, they just couldn’t wait to see what else was possible.

The end. Wasn’t that a great story? Nothing is really impossible if you really want to do it!
