Once upon a time, in a hot and dry place, there was a very thirsty crow. She was flying around looking for water when she found a big pitcher. Inside the pitcher, there was a little bit of water, but it was too low for her to reach with her beak. The poor crow was worried she might not get a drink and would stay thirsty.
The crow didn’t give up! She had a smart idea. She started picking up small stones and dropping them into the pitcher. With each stone she added, the water level rose a little bit higher.
After adding many stones, the water finally reached the top of the pitcher. The crow was so happy! She could now drink the water and feel refreshed. Her clever plan had worked!
This story teaches us an important lesson: when we face problems, we can use our creativity and clever thinking to find solutions. Just like the crow, if we think hard and try different ideas, we can solve our problems too!
Stone and Water Experiment: At home or in class, gather a clear container, some small stones, and water. Fill the container with a little water, just like the crow’s pitcher. Ask the children to predict what will happen if they add stones to the container. Let them drop stones one by one and observe how the water level rises. Discuss why this happens and how it relates to the crow’s clever solution.
Problem-Solving Scenarios: Present the children with simple, everyday problems, such as a toy stuck under a chair or a book on a high shelf. Encourage them to think of creative solutions, just like the crow did. Ask questions like, “What could you use to reach the toy?” or “How can you get the book safely?” Let them try out their ideas and discuss what worked and why.
Creative Storytelling: Ask the children to think of another animal facing a problem and how it might solve it using clever thinking. They can draw a picture or write a short story about their animal and its solution. Share these stories with the class to celebrate different creative ideas and approaches to problem-solving.
