Asterius had a blind daughter named Julia, and he brought her to Valentine, hoping for a miracle. Valentine taught Julia about Roman history and spirituality, and according to legend, he even helped her see again.
As more people heard about Valentine, the emperor called him to the palace. He wanted Valentine to stop believing in Christianity and to follow the marriage ban. But Valentine refused because he believed in love and faith. This led to his execution.
On the night before he died, February 14th, Saint Valentine wrote a letter to Julia, signing it “From your Valentine.” This touching message became a symbol of love and courage.
