Hi there! Welcome to Story Time with us. How are you feeling today? Are you feeling happy, excited, or maybe a little bit sad? It’s okay to talk about how we feel. Some days are happy, and some days are not so happy, but everything will be okay in the end!
Today, we have a special story called “The Fathers Are Coming Home” by Margaret Wise Brown. Can you guess what this story is about? Let’s find out together!
It’s nighttime, and all the fathers are coming home. The fish father swims home to his little fish in the bubbling brook. The bug father flies home to his little bugs under the log. The rabbit father hops home to his little bunnies in the hollow tree.
The daddy longlegs comes home to his little daddy longlegs. The dog father comes home to his little puppies. The bird father flies home to his little birds, bringing them a worm and singing a song.
The snail father creeps slowly home to his little snails. The lion father lives alone, so he comes home to himself. The pig father waddles over to his little piglets in the pigpen and grumbles at them.
And the boy’s father, who is a sailor, comes home from the sea to his little boy. Where does your father come home from? Or maybe he works from home and is always with you. Isn’t that great?
Did you know that Father’s Day in Australia is in September? That’s different from many other places in the world!
If you enjoyed “The Fathers Are Coming Home,” remember to read lots of books. Reading is so much fun!
We’ll see you again soon. Take care and bye-bye!
Animal Homes Exploration: Go on a nature walk with your family or friends and look for different animal homes. Can you find a bird’s nest, a spider web, or a rabbit hole? Draw a picture of the animal home you find and talk about what kind of father might live there. How do you think the animal father helps his family?
Family Story Time: Ask your parent or guardian to tell you a story about their day when they come home. What did they do? How do they feel when they come home to you? Share how you feel when they come home. You can also draw a picture of your family together at home.
Feelings Chart: Create a feelings chart with different faces showing emotions like happy, sad, excited, and tired. Each day, pick a face that shows how you feel when your family comes home. Talk about why you feel that way and what makes you happy or comforted when your family is around.
Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:
