The world has four special times of the year called seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall. Each season is different and important for our planet. Let’s learn about each one!
Winter is the coldest season. It happens when the part of the Earth we live on is tilted away from the Sun. During winter, it gets really cold, and sometimes snow falls, turning everything into a snowy wonderland. You can have lots of fun in winter by building snowmen and having snowball fights!
After winter, spring arrives and everything starts to wake up. The Earth tilts towards the Sun, making it warmer. In spring, you will see new leaves on trees and flowers blooming everywhere. Birds and bees are busy, and the world feels full of life and color!
Summer comes after spring and is the hottest season. The Earth is tilted fully towards the Sun, making the days long and sunny. Summer is perfect for swimming, playing outside, and going on camping trips with family and friends. It’s a time for fun and relaxation!
When summer ends, fall begins. The weather starts to cool down as the Earth tilts away from the Sun again. During fall, leaves change colors and fall from the trees, making everything look beautiful. It’s a great time to enjoy the cool air and play in the colorful leaves!
Each of the four seasons—winter, spring, summer, and fall—brings something special to our world. By understanding these seasons, we can enjoy the beauty and changes in nature all year round!
Seasonal Nature Walk: Take a walk outside with a family member or friend and observe the changes in nature. Look for signs of the current season, such as the color of the leaves, the temperature, or any animals you might see. Draw a picture of what you observe and write a few sentences about how it shows the current season.
Seasonal Craft Project: Create a craft that represents your favorite season. You can use materials like colored paper, leaves, cotton balls, or anything you find at home. For example, you could make a snowman for winter using cotton balls or a sun for summer using yellow paper. Share your craft with your class and explain why it’s your favorite season.
Weather Journal: Keep a weather journal for a week. Each day, write down the temperature, whether it’s sunny, rainy, or cloudy, and any other observations about the weather. At the end of the week, discuss with a family member or friend how the weather you observed fits into the current season. What changes did you notice?
