Hello, friends! How are you today? Did you have fun playing outside in the sunshine? Maybe you played in the park or in your yard. Now, it’s time to sit down and enjoy a story together. Today, we have a special book called “The Garden of Hope” by Isabelle Otter and Katie Roos. Let’s dive into the story!
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Maya. Things were different since her mom had been away. The house was a bit messy, and the garden was wild and overgrown. Maya lived with her dad and her little dog, Pip. Sometimes, Maya felt lonely, but her dad was always there to give her a big bear hug and tell her magical stories.
One day, Maya was feeling sad. Her dad decided to tell her a story about her mom. He said, “Your mom used to plant seeds when she felt worried. She called them her Seeds of Hope. By the time the seeds grew, her worries would go away.”
Maya and her dad looked at the garden and smiled. They decided to plant seeds together. Maya picked a packet with a bright sunflower on it, her mom’s favorite flower. She planted the seed and hoped it would grow into something beautiful.
As days passed, Maya felt happy when she thought about the garden. When the first green shoot appeared, she was filled with joy. Maya and her dad spent time in the garden, planting seeds and watching them grow.
The garden became a magical place full of flowers, bees, butterflies, and even little animals like rabbits and squirrels. Maya’s garden was alive with color and happiness. She realized that her worries had disappeared, just like her mom had said.
Even though the house was still a bit messy, Maya, her dad, and Pip felt different. They felt hopeful and happy. The garden had brought them joy and love.
Now, let’s read another sweet story called “I Love You Wherever You Are” by Ta Comfort.
This story is about a little bug and how much they are loved. From the moment they were held, they were loved with all the heart. Whether driving in a car, playing in the yard, or looking at the stars, the little bug is always loved.
Even when things get tough or when they are far apart, the little bug is always in the heart. The love is as big as the sky and as bright as the stars. No matter where they are, they are always loved.
This story reminds us that love is always with us, no matter where we go or what we do.
We hope you enjoyed these beautiful stories. Remember, you are always loved, just like the little bug. If you liked these stories, let us know! We have more exciting tales to share with you. Until next time, take care of yourself and your family. Bye!
Plant Your Own Seeds of Hope: Just like Maya, you can plant your own seeds and watch them grow! Ask a grown-up to help you find some seeds, soil, and a pot. Plant the seeds and water them regularly. As you watch your seeds grow, think about something that makes you happy or something you hope for. Draw a picture of your plant as it grows and share it with your friends or family.
Garden Observation Walk: Take a walk with a grown-up in your garden, a park, or any green space nearby. Look for different plants, flowers, and animals. Can you spot any bees, butterflies, or squirrels like Maya did in her garden? Talk about what you see and how it makes you feel. Try to find a flower that you think is as bright and beautiful as Maya’s sunflower.
Draw Your Feelings: Think about a time when you felt worried or sad, just like Maya. Now, think about something that makes you feel happy and hopeful. Draw two pictures: one of your worry and one of your hope. Share your drawings with someone you trust and talk about how planting seeds of hope can help make worries go away.

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Storytime Family. How are you today? Have you had your daily dose of sunshine? Did you have lots of fun playing outside? Did you get to play in a park or in your yard? I hope you’re ready to sit down and read a book now. Today, we have a book called “The Garden of Hope” by Isabelle Otter and Katie Roos. Let’s get started!
“The Garden of Hope”
Things had changed since Mom had been gone. The house was untidy, and Maya, Dad, and Pip were a bit of a mess. The garden had become wild and overgrown. Dad was trying his best, but sometimes it was hard to remember all the things that needed doing. Maya sometimes felt lonely, but luckily she had Pip. Of course, there were moments when it was impossible not to miss Mom. When Maya felt sad, Dad was always there for a bear hug. He was a great storyteller and told Maya tales of magic and adventures in faraway lands. She particularly enjoyed the stories where Dad wove her and Pip into the plot as brave characters.
One afternoon, Maya was feeling sad and a little anxious. Dad said it was time for a story, and this one was going to be about Mom. Maya stopped biting her nails and looked up. Dad hardly ever told stories about Mom. “Do you know your mom used to worry about things too?” Dad said. “Whenever she felt upset, she would go outside, plant some seeds, and wait for them to grow into something new and beautiful. Your mom knew that by the time the seeds sprouted, those worries would have faded away. She called them her Seeds of Hope.”
On the table were several packets of seeds. Dad and Maya looked out at the overgrown garden and shared a smile. Maya started in the potting shed, which was full of dust and cobwebs, but she soon found what she needed. Next, she began to pull out weeds. The garden had been unloved for a long time, and the weeds had tangled themselves over everything. At last, the ground was ready, and it was time to plant the first seed. Maya chose the packet with a bright sunflower on the front; it was Mom’s favorite flower. As she dug a hole, Maya thought about that story. She dropped the first seed in, closed her eyes, and hoped.
Some days were harder than others for Maya, but thinking about the garden made her feel calm. When the first small green shoot appeared, Maya felt a rush of happiness. The seed had become something new and beautiful. Sometimes Pip tried to help in his own way, and luckily, holes could be filled in again. Sometimes Dad felt angry or upset, then he joined Maya in the garden, and they planted seeds together.
Once the plants started to appear, Maya spent all her time outside, rain or shine, nurturing her garden. In turn, the garden repaid Maya’s love by making her feel lighter and happier than she had felt in a long time. Maya now had some fully grown plants and flowers, as well as seedlings. The flowers began to bloom, attracting new visitors. First came the bees and butterflies, then ladybirds, dragonflies, and beetles. Birds arrived, along with squirrels and hedgehogs. Finally, rabbits, squirrels, and foxes joined in. The garden was humming, hopping, buzzing, and bursting with life.
Maya had transformed the garden into a place of beauty once more. Mom had been right. Maya had forgotten the worries she had planted with the seeds; the garden had carried them away. Things had changed since Mom had been gone. The house was still untidy, and Maya, Dad, and Pip were still rather a mess, but something felt different. For the first time in a long while, there was hope. Dad and Maya looked out at the beautiful garden and shared a smile.
