The Great Dino Race Adventure

Welcome to the exciting world of dinosaurs! Today, we’re going to learn about a fun race between some amazing dinosaurs. Meet our host, Pteranodon, who is here to tell us all about the Dino Race!

Meet the Dinosaurs

At the starting line, we have three cool dinosaurs ready to race. First, there’s Gallimimus, last year’s winner, who is super fast with long legs. Then, we have Ankylosaurus, who has a strong, armored body. Finally, there’s Brachiosaurus, who is very tall with a long neck.

The Race Begins!

As the race starts, Gallimimus is confident and says, “I’m the fastest dinosaur!” But Brachiosaurus isn’t worried. He says, “I have a long stride, so I don’t need to run fast!”

When the race begins, Gallimimus and Brachiosaurus are neck and neck. But wait! Brachiosaurus stops to eat some yummy fruit. “Oh no, I’m hungry again!” he says. Meanwhile, Gallimimus decides to take a nap because it’s so hot.

Ankylosaurus’s Determination

Ankylosaurus keeps going without stopping. “I won’t give up!” he says with determination. His strong legs keep moving, and he doesn’t need to rest.

As the race continues, Ankylosaurus surprises everyone by catching up. “Look at that fighting spirit!” cheers Pteranodon.

The Exciting Finish

Finally, Ankylosaurus crosses the finish line first! “Yay! I won!” he shouts with joy. Gallimimus is surprised and says, “Now you can’t tease me anymore!”

Pteranodon announces, “The winner of this year’s Dino Race is Ankylosaurus!” Everyone cheers for Ankylosaurus’s amazing effort.

Fun Dinosaur Facts

  • Gallimimus: A fast dinosaur with bird-like features.
  • Ankylosaurus: A strong dinosaur with an armored body.
  • Brachiosaurus: A tall dinosaur with a long neck, who loves to eat!
  • Pteranodon: A flying dinosaur with a long beak, who is our friendly host.

We hope you enjoyed learning about the Dino Race! Remember, each dinosaur is special in its own way. Keep exploring and discovering more about these fascinating creatures!

  • What do you think makes Ankylosaurus special, and why do you think he won the race? Can you think of a time when you kept trying and succeeded at something?
  • If you could be any dinosaur in the race, which one would you choose and why? What would you do differently to win the race?
  • Why do you think it’s important to keep going and not give up, just like Ankylosaurus did? Can you share a story about a time you didn’t give up on something?
  1. Dinosaur Movement Exploration: Let’s pretend to be the dinosaurs from the race! Find a safe space and try moving like each dinosaur:

    • Gallimimus: Run fast with long strides like Gallimimus. How fast can you go?
    • Ankylosaurus: Walk slowly but steadily, pretending you have a strong, armored body. Can you keep going without stopping?
    • Brachiosaurus: Stretch your arms up high like a long neck and take big, slow steps. Can you reach for the sky?

Talk about which dinosaur was the easiest or hardest to pretend to be and why.

  2. Dinosaur Snack Time: Just like Brachiosaurus stopped to eat, let’s have a snack time! Choose a fruit or vegetable to eat, and think about why Brachiosaurus might have liked it. Discuss with a friend or family member:

    • Why do you think Brachiosaurus liked to eat fruit?
    • What is your favorite fruit or vegetable, and why?
  3. Create Your Own Dino Race: Draw a picture of a new dinosaur race. Think about what other dinosaurs might join the race and what special skills they might have. Share your drawing with the class and explain:

    • What are the names of your new dinosaurs?
    • What makes each dinosaur special in the race?

I am the running master, the great Dino Race!
Ladies and gentlemen, today is the day of the Dino Race.
I am Pterodon, and I’ll be your MC today.
If you take a look at the starting line, you will see last year’s winner, Gallimimus, and on either side are Ankylosaurus and Brachiosaurus.

“Hey Ankylosaurus, you came out to the games too! Must have been hard just getting here with those short little legs.”
“What slowpoke?”
“If I win, you have to stop making fun of me.”
“You think you’re going to beat me? When I start sprinting, none of you will be able to keep up with these long legs. I’m the fastest dinosaur, Gallimimus!”

“Ouch! Your body is really huge. You must be really heavy. Can you even run?”
“I don’t need to run because I have a long stride. I only walked a little bit and I’m hungry again. Oh no, why am I always hungry?”

“Alright, be quiet everyone! Now get ready, get set, go!”
“Oh golly, Brachiosaurus and Gallimimus are neck and neck!”
“Hey, this one is faster than I thought. What is that smell? It smells like my favorite fruit. I’ll just eat a few and then run again.”
“Oh, Brachiosaurus is stopping to eat some fruit in the middle of the race! Ha ha! Thanks for dropping out.”
“I can’t even see Ankylosaurus; guess I’m definitely one now.”
“Oh, it’s so hot. Maybe I should rest too.”

[Music]
“Actually, I’m kind of tired.”
“Oh Gallimimus, how could you take a nap in the middle of the race?”
“Oh, guess I can’t stop you. I’ll go see where Ankylosaurus is and report back to you.”

[Applause]
“Ankylosaurus, at this rate you should just give up.”
“Give up? I’m not going to give up! My strong legs don’t need to rest. I don’t know what it means to give up!”
“Look at that fighting spirit! Let’s go check up on Brachiosaurus again.”
“Oh dear, Brachiosaurus has eaten all the fruit off a tree. Stop eating; it’s time to get back to the race.”
“Uh, look over there! I can see Ankylosaurus again.”

[Applause]
“Ankylosaurus, you’re doing really well! Hang in there!”
“It won’t be long until we have a winner.”

[Music]
“Yay! I came in first! I won! The winner of this year’s Dino Race is Ankylosaurus!”
“What? How is that possible, Gallimimus? Now you can’t tease me anymore! I lost this one.”
“Oh, you’re really awesome! I am happy to announce that Ankylosaurus has won this race!”
“Oh, is Brachiosaurus on his way? Or is he still… oh no, so yummy!”

[Music]
“Bird-like dinosaur: Gallimimus. Armored body: Ankylosaurus. Long-necked glutton: Brachiosaurus. Long-beaked pterosaur: Pteranodon.”
