Hello, friends! How are you today? Have you been having fun at school and making new friends? We’re so happy you’re here to read a story with us!
Today, we’re reading a book called “The Lines on Nana’s Face” by Simona Serallo. It’s Nana’s birthday, and she’s happy because everyone is together. But sometimes, she looks a little sad, surprised, or worried. I asked Nana why, and she said it’s because of the lines on her face.
“Do you mind them, Nana?” I asked. “Not at all,” she said. “These lines hold all my memories!”
“Really? How can memories fit in those tiny lines?” I wondered. So, I asked Nana about them.
“What do you keep here, Nana?”
“This line is from a spring morning when I solved a big mystery!”
“And this one?”
“That’s from the best picnic ever by the seaside!”
Nana has so many fun memories! She even has lines from the night she met Grandpa, who loves roller coasters, and from when she made her sister the best present ever!
“What’s in this line?”
“This is from the first time I had to say goodbye,” Nana said. Saying goodbye can be sad, can’t it?
“Nana, do you remember the first time you saw me?”
“Yes, that’s right here!”
Happy birthday, Nana! Wasn’t that a sweet story?
Now, let’s talk about you! I look at you and feel so proud. I wonder what amazing things you will do when you grow up.
Will you make beautiful music or write wise words? Maybe you’ll help animals or create amazing art. You could cook yummy meals or help people feel better when they’re sick.
You might teach others to be their best or find ways to help the ocean. Maybe you’ll discover a cure for the common cold or show kindness to everyone.
Perhaps you’ll turn waste into something useful or find new ways to keep our Earth healthy. You could even explore the stars or build a new world on Mars!
Whatever you choose, remember to follow your passion and be the best you can be. Even when things seem tough, know that tomorrow is a new day.
I believe in you and will always be proud of you. If you ever need me, I’ll be right here. I wish you happiness in everything you do. I love you!
Thank you for joining us for these stories. We hope you enjoyed them! Take care of yourself and your family. Bye-bye!
Memory Line Art: Let’s create our own memory lines! Ask your child to think about a happy memory they have, like a fun day at the park or a special birthday. Provide them with paper and crayons or markers, and encourage them to draw a line that represents that memory. They can add little pictures or symbols along the line to show what happened. Once they’re done, ask them to share their memory and explain their drawing. This activity helps children understand how memories can be represented visually, just like Nana’s lines.
Emotion Faces: Talk about different emotions that Nana might have felt when she got her lines, like happiness, surprise, or sadness. Use a mirror and ask your child to make faces that show these emotions. Discuss what makes them feel these emotions in their own lives. This activity helps children connect emotions to facial expressions and understand that everyone has feelings that can be shown in different ways.
Future Dreams Collage: Encourage your child to think about what they might want to do when they grow up, just like the story suggests. Provide magazines, scissors, glue, and a large piece of paper. Help them cut out pictures or words that represent their dreams and paste them onto the paper to create a collage. This activity encourages children to think about their future and express their aspirations creatively.

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Storytime Family. How are you today? Have you been good at school? Have you been making new friends?
Thank you for taking the time to sit down and read a book with us. Today, we have a book called “The Lines on Nana’s Face” by Simona Serallo. Let’s get started, shall we?
**The Lines on Nana’s Face**
Today is Nana’s birthday. I know she’s happy because she likes it when we’re all together, but sometimes it looks like she might also be a bit sad, surprised, and slightly worried all at the same time. So, I asked Nana why, and she tells me it might look that way because of all the lines on her face.
“Do you mind them, Nana?” I asked. “Not at all,” she says. “You see, it is in these lines that I keep all my memories.”
“Can’t be right! How could there be enough space for a memory in such small lines?” So, I put Nana to the test.
“What do you keep here, Nana?”
“This is from that morning early one spring when I solved a great mystery.”
“And what about this?”
“This is the best picnic I have ever had by the seaside.”
Looks like Nana had a lot of fun!
“Oh, those are from the night I met your grandpa, who likes roller coasters.”
“What’s in these little ones?”
“These are from the time I made my sister the best present ever.”
“Wow, that is stunning! Don’t you think? I must have taken her ages.”
“And what’s in there?”
“This is the first time I had to say goodbye.”
Oh, have you ever said goodbye? Sometimes they can be very sad.
“Nana, do you remember the first time you saw me?”
“Yes, that is right here!”

**I Will Always Be Proud of You**
I look at you, my little one, and feel a sense of pride. The love that grows inside my heart is one I cannot hide. One day, I know you’ll spread your wings, and then you will fly free. Today, I watch you wondering what you will grow up to be.
Will you enrich our souls with wondrous music or wise words? Will you protect our animals, mammals, and birds? Perhaps you will captivate the world with stunning works of art or cook the most delightful meals that help to warm the heart.
Will you rush into danger so that you can save the day or nourish the sick back to health again so that they all may play? It may be that you someday care for those in need of aid or coach all kinds of athletes so they’ll reach the highest grade.
Perhaps you will empower kids to be all they can be, or maybe you’ll find ways to save the creatures of the sea. Will you one day discover how to cure the common cold, or maybe you’ll show kindness that is valued more than gold?
It might be that you’ll turn our waste to something that has worth or pioneer clean energy to make a healthy Earth. Will you turn your thoughts skyward to what’s waiting in the stars, or will you build a wonderful new world for us on Mars?
Your passion waits, so seek it out to find the truth within you and strive to be the best you can in everything you do. When clouds of doubt turn sunshine to a dark and hazy gray, stay strong and know tomorrow always brings a brighter day.
I have no doubt you’ll reach your dreams and get there without fear. Just know that if you ever need me, I will be right here. I wish you happiness no matter what you choose to do. I love you, and I will always be very proud of you.
