Hello, friends! How are you today? Have you been reading lots of fun books? How was your day at school? Did you learn something new and exciting? I bet you learn new things every day!
I’m so happy you’re here to read with us today. We have a special book called “The Lovely Haze of Baby Days” by Lindsay Keller Matson. Let’s dive into the story together!
Babies, babies all around! They play on the floor and make funny sounds. Every day feels like a fun, busy blur with babies giggling and making a stir.
Babies make lots of noise and mess, but they are so cute, we must confess! They crawl and climb and sometimes eat dirt. We wash their clothes, even if it’s just one more shirt!
Babies drool and make funny faces, but their smiles light up all the places. Tummy time makes them a bit sad, but their giggles make us so glad!
Feeding time is always fun, whether with a bottle or a spoon. We rock them to sleep with a gentle song, hoping they nap all day long.
Sometimes babies cry or need a hug, but their sweet smiles make us feel snug. We go on adventures to the store, even if we need to bring more!
Even when days feel long and tough, remember, you’re not alone—you’re loved enough! Baby days can be a little wild, but they bring joy with every smile.
And that’s the story of “The Lovely Haze of Baby Days.” It brings back happy memories of baby times. Thank you for reading with us today! We hope you enjoyed the story. Take care of yourself and your family. See you next time, bye-bye!
Baby Observation Walk: Take a walk around your neighborhood or visit a local park with your family. Look for families with babies or young children. Observe how they interact and what activities they are doing. Can you spot any of the activities mentioned in the story, like crawling, giggling, or playing? Share what you see with your family and talk about how babies are learning and exploring the world around them.
Baby Care Role Play: Set up a pretend play area with dolls or stuffed animals as babies. Use toy bottles, spoons, and blankets to take care of your “babies.” Practice feeding them, rocking them to sleep, and taking them on pretend adventures. Think about how you can make them happy and comfortable, just like in the story. What songs would you sing to help them sleep?
Family Story Sharing: Ask your parents or grandparents to share stories about when you or your siblings were babies. What funny or cute things did you do? How did they take care of you? Draw a picture of a favorite story they tell you. This will help you understand more about baby days and how everyone grows and learns over time.
Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the YouTube transcript:

Let’s have a look!
Babies, babies everywhere on the floor and in my hair. Our rhythm beats the baby way. Most every night blurs into today.
Blowouts, burping, high-pitched squealing, diapers mounding to the ceiling. Crawling, climbing, eating dirt—loads to wash, what’s one more shirt?
Drooling, spit-up, pureed fruit, but oh my goodness, aren’t you cute? Tummy time makes you so sad, and I need rest; I haven’t had. I might have maybe lost my mind; it’s not an easy thing to find.
I’m overwhelmed; my world’s a mess. How does your smile erase my stress? Bottle, breast, or baby-led—all I care is that you’re fed.
The swaddle snug, white noise is on; you might just nap with one more song. Walking, rocking, midnight drives—I’m desperate to see drowsy eyes.
Perhaps it’s gas or maybe teething; I watch you breathing. The fridge is empty; lunch looks bleak. I haven’t showered yet this week.
With yoga pants and dry shampoo, we’re off to brave the shopping zoo. The house is so full of baby stuff, yet somehow there’s not enough.
The stroller won’t fit through the gate; you woke at five—how are we late? Strangers acting nonchalant give advice and never want.
So much mess, so many tears, the longest days, the shortest years. With sleepless nights and baby blues, thank goodness they are mamas too.
If baby small or fully grown, in motherhood, you’re not alone. I remember my baby days; those days were really rough.
But they all pass, and it makes it all worthwhile in the end, right, mamas?
And that was “The Lovely Haze of Baby Days.” That brought back a lot of memories for me.
