Hello, friends! How are you today? Is the sun shining where you are, or is it a bit chilly? Here, it’s summer, and it’s really hot! I’m staying cool inside and reading a fun story with you. Thanks for joining me!
Once upon a time, there was a little boy. Whenever he needed something, he would call his parents, and they would come running to help him. They would refill his drinks and put away his toys. It was like magic!
As he grew older, his parents still helped him with everything. Life was easy with Mom and Dad always there. But one day at the park, he met a new friend who could do many things on her own. She could slide, zip, and even tie her shoes!
His new friend was calm and confident. She even had a clever way to get her ball out of a tree. She practiced swinging until she was really good at it. She asked for a little help from her friend to reach a tall water fountain.
The boy was amazed. He couldn’t even tie his shoes! He asked her, “Why don’t your parents help you? How do you do all these things?”
She smiled and said, “It’s not magic. I have a superpower called problem-solving! Before I ask for help, I try to solve the problem myself.”
The boy was curious and wanted to learn this superpower too. His friend told him, “Everyone has this power inside them. You just have to find it!”
She explained, “Before I ask for help, I take a deep breath and say to myself: ‘I’m a problem-solving superhero. If I can do this by myself, I will grow. If I can’t, that’s okay too. I’ll try again and learn!’
You don’t need a cape or a magic wand. Just believe in yourself and be patient. You can do it too!”
The boy was excited to try. When his shoe fell off, he paused and remembered his friend’s advice. He tried three times and finally tied his shoe all by himself!
His parents were so proud. They decided to give him more space to use his new superpower. From that day on, the boy was ready for anything, and it made everyone very happy.
And that’s the story of “The Problem-Solving Superhero.” Did you know you have superpowers too? Just believe in yourself, and you can do amazing things!

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Storytime Family. How are you today? Is it nice and sunny where you are? Are you keeping warm or cool like I am? It’s summer here, and it’s super hot today. I’m trying to stay cool indoors and reading a book with you. Thank you so much for taking the time to read with me!
Today, we have “The Problem-Solving Superhero” by Heidi Mkhit. Let’s take a look!
**The Problem-Solving Superhero**
There was once a boy, so young and small,
When he had a need, he’d give his parents a call.
His parents would come running at the speed of light,
Whether big or small, his needs were met just right.
Drinks were refilled, toys were put away,
Who needed independence with service like this all day?
When their help was delayed, there was no need to fret,
He quickly learned the pace quickened when upset.
The boy grew older, but their assistance never wavered,
They were there in an instant, ready to help with any favor.
Life was quite nice with Mom and Dad at his service,
But one day at the park, he began to feel nervous.
He made a new friend and noticed her talents were many,
She could slide, zip, and tie on her own—
He found all this rather uncanny.
Calm, cool, and confident, she managed it all,
In fact, her parents remained seated and let her do it all.
She had a creative solution to rescue her ball from a tree,
She practiced on the swing until she was gliding with ease.
A tall water fountain was no match for this gal,
She simply asked for a boost from her newfound pal.
The boy was bewildered; she knew just what to do.
She was also capable—he couldn’t even tie his shoe.
He wondered out loud, “Why are your parents not running?
Don’t you ask them for help? Your abilities are quite stunning!”
She smiled at the little boy, ready to share her big secret.
“It’s not magic, my friend, but you might not believe it.
I have a great superpower that helps me stay calm.
Before I ask for help from my parents, I use my problem-solving charm.”
“I wasn’t born with this great gift,” choked the little boy.
“What can I do? I want to be a problem solver; I want to be like you!”
“My new friend, please do not fret.
We only have to look inside; you see, everyone has this power.
Ready to find it? Let’s go for a ride!
Here’s what I do before my need for help sets in:
I take a deep breath and say this out loud from within:
‘I’m a problem-solving superhero; this I already know.
If I can do this by myself, I will surely grow.
If I can’t do it, that’s okay too; at least I gave it a try.
I’ll watch and learn; I’ll try again; eventually, I’ll fly.’
You see, no capes are needed, not even a magic wand will do.
You will need belief and patience, and you can do this too!”
The boy was excited and ready; let’s give this new power a shot!
But when his shoe fell off, he took a pause.
Could he write this new plot? He thought for a second,
He counted to ten, remembered his chant, and was ready to dive right in.
It took three tries, but he did it on his own.
He found his superpower; his parents were mind-blown.
His mom leaned in, whispering into his dad’s ear,
“We can help his powers grow too; we’ll give him space and not interfere.”
That day was a turning point for this little boy;
He was ready for anything, and that filled them all with great joy.
And that was “The Problem-Solving Superhero.”
Who knew you had superpowers too?
Right? We all have superpowers!
All you need to do is have faith, believe in yourself, and you can literally do anything.
Your ability is pretty much limitless.
